This show looks absolutely atrocious. I am hoping that it is a case of it being so bad that it’s so good. It was obviously made to tour and visit the places in the country where this low level crap will appeal; Bradford, Sunderland, Southend; the real classy places of these British Isles. Welcome Secret Critic... I wonder who you could be...

Its contracted at the theatre for two years, but obviously if ticket sales decline after its healthy first few months, plans change. 😂 Saying that, if programmes really are a tenner, it can run off the price of those alone! Where have you heard or read that it’s been contracted for two years?! I have a feeling the £10 programme might be a Haymarket thing. The Heathers programme was the same. Astronomical.

Yep, good luck enjoying those niche shows about artisanal chocolat merchants in 17th century Marseilles with a soundtrack by FKA Twigs, I’m sure that’ll keep the landlords happy when it gets to payday.

That’s not the opening number - there’s a song about Del Boy that opens the show. The clip is the 2nd.

Just off on a tangent, I wouldn’t listen to this guy. He is a nobody. Thinks he is something he isn’t. Don’t give him the publicity.

Oh I know all that. I find it hilarious that people get free tickets and probably a free drink or two and still moan.
If someone pays their hard earned money to go along to see a show and doesn't like it ... fair enough. Those who have not invested one penny in it? No. Not interested in their views!

danieljohnson14 never post any clips like that again!!! Did they only have 30seconds to block and rehearse the song?

It must have been done quickly as they left in someone shouting "Thank you Stu" to the MD at the start.

Critics are becoming less powerful as time goes on now. Word of mouth is what makes a show thrive if its unknown. This show is known, so there is an audience for it regardless. However, it will be word of mouth that the show is actually good or not for it to last. And it really doesn't seem like the kind of show theatre fans will flock too, or get a large repeat business, or the tourist crowd.

So most of the main cast skipped the premiere... as did most of the supporting cast. You’d have thought they’d have been desperate to get Nicholas and David photographed together to promote it.

And it really doesn't seem like the kind of show theatre fans will flock too, or get a large repeat business, or the tourist crowd. You’d be surprised. I’ve been asked by parents, grandparents, co-workers, friends etc what I thought and if they should bother. This is the type of show that would actually get people into a theatre that normally wouldn’t. For a lot of British folk of a certain age, this is their version of ‘Friends: The Musical’ - there’s a reason it’s heavily repeated to this day and why I think this will do big business when it inevitably ends up touring. That doesn’t make it a great musical though. But there is a lot here to enjoy if you watch as a fan of the show and not a regular theatre goer.

Nicholas has said recently he doesn't want to reprise his role in the show anymore with rumours of a return, because it would be too difficult with the deaths of crew and cast members since, and that the last two times he has seen David has both been at funerals. So maybe going to the opening of the musical just wasn't for him because of memories and stuff, leaving that chapter beind him? www.rte.ie/entertainment/2019/0219/1031608-no-more-only-fools-and-horses-says-nicholas-lyndhurst/

All of the main cast were happy to do a documentary a year or two ago (on replica sets) so I’m not sure they’re avoiding it... and if it really was John Sullivan’s dream to do a west end version, I’m surprised most of the cast didn’t turn up to support that: they did a Comic Relief sketch In 2014 based on an unfinished scene John had also written (and his son had finished). I don’t think turning up would have suggested a revival was in the works (and admittedly, I don’t want to see Del Boy as a pensioner).

A revival would be a bad idea I think. You'd also have to reference what happened to that characters that hzve sadly passed. I think it would be really depressing.

I disagree about having to reference characters that had since passed. The core 4 - the 2 brothers, one wife and one significant other - are still very much with us. Everyone else was largely supporting characters that didn’t appear in every episode. When they revived it in 2001 they just claimed one of the characters (that had since died) was in prison, so it’s not new ground. Any revival would need to be based on Damien anyway, and him being a modern day version of Del doesn’t appeal at all.
