If Ryan had his way, every show would have male nudity even if it wasn’t in the text originally

Good to see a new play being done by this playwright, I will be definitely up for seeing this.
However I must not be the only one disappointed on here by this announcement, as it is a timely reminder of his previous work I haven't seen and would love to see, such as; The Beauty Queen of Leehane, A Skull in Connemara, The Lieutenant of Innishmore and The Pillowman.
Surely something like Southwark Playhouse, Menier Chocolate Factory, Young Vic, Old Vic, Park Theatre, National or Donmar Warehouse can pick these up, if the commercial sector not interested in doing this.

The Young Vic already did The Beauty Queen of Leenane, then brought it back for another go. There have been rumours of a Pillowman revival coming next year, but the rumours have also mentioned Colin Morgan who is due to be in Translations at the NT so I don't know what that means for the Pillowman rumours. There was quite a good production of it in Leicester back when the Curve was fairly new though.

This is my definition of a ‘perfect play’. I loved the way you had to walk through the rain to get to your seats before it started!

I agree, a season would be great. Such good plays. Except I didn’t like The Pillowman...sorry, I know I’m on my own there. But another outing , yes.

I remember reading/hearing at the time when The Pillowman was on that he’d written this years ago, before his Irish plays. Everyone assumed it was new as it had only just been put on by the NT. Not sure if there was any any foundation to that. It’s certainly different in style from his other stuff, and isn’t one of my favourites either.

Beauty Queen at the Young Vic is/was easily one of the best productions I've seen in a London theatre in the last 10 years, and In Bruges one of my favourite films of the same time period, I can't believe we haven't got to see more revivals of McDonaghs other plays in London theatres. I'm frankly sick of the same old revivals we get time and time again at places like the NT.

An Irish company called Decadent produced a cracking version of The Pillowman two years ago in Dublin and Belfast.

I love McDonagh's work.
First became aware of him with In Bruges (which has now become one of my Xmas holiday staples). Since then, I've seen a number of his plays, including The Cripple of Inishmaan with Daniel Radcliffe at the Noel Coward, Hangmen at the Royal Court, and the Druid production of Beauty Queen of Leenane. My favorite remains the stellar production of The Lieutenant of Inishmore at the Mark Taper Forum in L.A. starring Chris Pine.
I've been looking for something to schedule my next trip to London around. A Very Very Very Dark Matter just might be it!

A revival of The Lieutenant of Inishmore would be more than welcome, remember seeing at the Garrick ( I think ) more years ago then I care to remember !

Now can you remember if the cat ate the frosties or not at the end?! I saw this at The Other Place in Stratford where it began its run. Cracking piece! I remember being on the front row and everything was very close indeed! The cat did eat the frosties! The RSC sent out letters in advance, but after tickets had been sent out, informing the audience that no actual cats would be harmed for the production!

I found that too, but I wanted to be on the safe side. As my username may hint I'm a big fan of McDonagh's plays, but apart from the NT broadcast of Hangmen I haven't seen any performed, so I had to get in on this!

Very easy to book tickets and I even went back in to get an additional two next to my original purchase. Bingo! And thank heavens for no booking fees 😄😄😄
I just hope the play is better than Young Marx 😂

Yes, no problem booking this. I decided to try out one of the single end of row narrow seats for £25.

Are they saving front row for day seats? I really liked the seat I had for Young Marx last weekend, but looked at about 10 dates and not a single front row seat available for any of them. Wasn't expecting to pay £25 like I did for YM, but not going to pay £55 for something in the second row 11 months in advance.

We got front row for £25, just needed to move past opening weeks to a later October weekday evening.

I bought front row for £25 so I would guess that you just missed out, although it does seem extraordinarily bad luck that you would miss out considering it's not that major a venue and the play's not opening for another eleven months.

Is this the same configuration as YM and if so, how high is the stage? (Not been there yet..)

Not only Very easy to book (by telephone) but also Very easy to resolve my Very stupid error- I went and booked for the same date I've booked to see Company next year...! Telephoned the box-office immediately after I'd realised my mistake. Answered once again in less than a minute and dealt with by a Very bright and friendly lady ("Don't worry, I'm sure we can sort this out for you...") who didn't even charge me a fee to exchange. Very impressed, Bridge Theatre. Bravo! A whole year away though...!

although it does seem extraordinarily bad luck Eleven months in advance - No front row availability at sekected performance. Eleven months and one hour in advance - Front row for sale. A very very very poor ticket-purchasing strategy, Marwood.

Ditto to the comments above over the ease of getting tickets. The lack of booking fee shouldn't, but genuinely does, surprise me (nicely)! I adore The Pillowman, so I have high hopes for this one, plus I'm excited to visit this new space. I love ticking a new venue off the list so much.
I went for the second row £25 seats 7-8 as Theatremonkey shows them as green on his site, and for £25 I can't complain! The scary thought is though, with this and Company booked a year in advance, my 2018 is already rapidly filling up - I think I must qualify for some kind of theatre shopping counselling...

Also no restriction on buying a single seat leaving a single seat (BTW there is a a single front row £25 seat left for the matinee on November 7th)
