Guys & Dolls - 29 May to 8 July
Creative team led by Director & Choreographer Nick Winston.
Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - 25 July to 2 September
Celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2018
Creative team led by Director & Choreographer Andrew Wright
I'm a big fan of Kilworth's summer musicals - have been to almost all of them in the last 6 years or so and never once been disappointed. I'm also really intrigued to see a non-Kenwright Joseph!

If only Kilworth were set up to go out on tour - showing the UK what a non Billy K Joseph looks like would be a huge step forward for regional theatre!

Will go to both as I only live a short car ride away but neither really make me really excited still tinking about going there end of june, could take a flight to Birmingham and a train to Rugby and a taxi to the hotel maybe the best way and hopefully not too expensive  |

The taxi was late as well, although I still made my train.
You can probably get it cheaper from Rugby to Kilworth House. Outward, I actually got an Uber from Coventry (much further away) which came to somewhere around £20, but you're unlikely to find an Uber in Rugby.

Saw Guys & Dolls last night and thought it was wonderful - it’s a show I love in any case and it is brilliantly served by this production.
A first-class cast, the stand-out for me was Holly Dale Spencer’s Adelaide, but there wasn’t a weak spot anywhere. The choreography was sharp in both design and execution, the voices superb throughout, especially Daniel Stockton who nailed it vocally as Nicely-Nicely Johnson, a role where falling short of that can be a real disappointment, and the whole was played with a humour that added frequent laughter to the almost permanent grin I was wearing as I watched.
The set was cleverly designed for maximum impact with minimal moving parts to work within the Kilworth’s particular staging limitations and on a beautiful summer’s evening, the venue has rarely been a lovelier place to be.
Only distraction for me was the steady if slow parade of rather large beetles making their way along the gap between front row and stage with a single-minded determination that had me lifting my feet to allow them passage rather than having them clamber over me! Oh, and the cigarette and holder that skidded straight off the stage and landed at my feet during “Take Back Your Mink”!
I’m not sure if this production is sold out yet (Kilworth’s often are before they open) but if it’s not and you can get there... do!

From what I am reading on here and their website it seems to be an impossible place to get to by public transport, worse than the Watermill!!
Planning to visit next Wednesday evening and in the day visit Whipsinade Zoo, both hard places to get to by public transport,so nice to give the car a run out and listen to some cast recordings - So can kill two birds with one stone (not literally at the zoo).

The season at Opera Holland Park is over by The start of August then a few one off events in the space follow. As the stage is already there I wonder if Kilworth Shows would make a buck in London?
Does London need another Guys and Dolls? Would the residents of Holland Park area want a longer festival in the hood?

I took a trip up last night to Kilworth House, first ever visit, long drive both ways but then again I have a soft spot for summer stock - a welcome differents from getting out of the usual proscenium theatre and Guys and Dolls being a classic from the canon of musical theatre. The piece was performed with great gusto and enthusiasm, however, apart from a couple of performers - I was underwhelmed with the acting talent and found the same standard as you would get on the fringe.
