Hello All,
I am a new member here and have loved being a part of the discussions on this fantastic site so far!
I thought I would start a thread about NBC's new series 'The Good Doctor' starring two of my favourite actors; young Freddie Highmore and Richard Schiff, best known from his work on my all time favourite show...the West Wing!
I think this is a really well written and acted series that is owed a discussion.
Very much looking forward to hearing your opinions as the series goes on!

I’m looking forward to this starting here on Friday and am also a fan of Freddie Highmore, he was excellent in Close to the Enemy last year.

West Wing - that was classy telly. I still dip in and out and find myself rooted to the sofa when one of my favourite scenes comes on ..
One of my Nebraskan friends is rating it highly -

Loving it! The only downside is waiting for the next Ep each week.. What a charming fella Freddie Highmore grown up to be! He gives such a subtle performance? a pleasure to watch. Being a big fan of House M.D. it's the first thing that drawn my attention to the series and even that I am aware it's just a re-make of Korean Tv Show I feel the same David Shore vibe

Well written and very well acted. I saw Freddie Highmore in Psycho and remember thinking then that he was certainly not destined to be another child actor has been. His performance in this is very subtle with a lot of nuance.

I enjoyed the first episode. Apparently it has the highest ratings in the US since the end of series 5 of Grey's Anatomy. (GEEEOOOOOOOOORGE😭😭😭😭) Nice mix of characters and stacks of technical stuff for those who like that - could anyone (other than maybe @parsley and andrew) keep up with the writing that came up with Freddie Highmore's thoughts? I'm a quick reader and found it impossible. I'm presuming it's ok to write about the episode if it's aired in the UK? However, just in case, I will put the following in spoiler tags as if you haven't watched the first episode it would give something away that you shouldn't know before the end of the ep. I was a bit disappointed that the brother had died - I thought his whole motivation was going to be that the brother was stuck somewhere in a coma/paralysed or whatever and he was on a mission to cure him. Each series could have ended with him not quite managing but being motivated to continue. ...Well, I thought it was a good idea anyway! (And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I'm not a script writer!)

Just as I've quoted your post I stupidly caught an eye of your spoiler. That was silly of me. I haven't even heard of this, but will give the first episode a watch, don't remind me about George O'Malley, greatest guy EVER.

I would imagine you don't watch medical programmes, but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts if you do find time to watch as it's an interesting concept but, I would imagine, somewhat unrealistic? Next season of Greys is about to start in the UK, but it's not the same any more (George RIP) - I can't even remember who's still there.
