I am really looking forward to seeing this when it opens. I might be biased as Aladdin was my favourite Disney film when I was younger so doubt it can do any wrong in my eyes.

Really looking forward to this! I love the soundtrack from broadway but agree I hope it won't be seen as a big pantomime here. It really has the danger of being too cod. I think looking at the cast list we should have some good funny comedy moments but plus great big dance numbers. It's a big ensemble! They haven't been that active on Social media or TV yet though? I'd have expected a lot more, not much press at all like behind the scenes or rehearsal pics etc. That video doesn't really show off the show at all like the Broadway clips.

Considering people's attention span these days, they probably don't want to start the media blitz too early. I'm sure we'll get some promo pics in costume soon enough and the leads singing A Whole New World somewhere.
And even if actual English people would perhaps think it "too panto", Aladdin may do well on the tourist trade since it's a very popular/well-known Disney movie and the musical hasn't really been around Europe/the world yet like Lion King.
Here's hoping. I can't stand the idea of yet another truly new musical dying a death in London while all the jukebox stuff lives on.

Will it Appeal To The Sikh Community though? It is culturally significant to over 500,000 people of Agrabah.

Isn't this just cultural appropriation? That's pretty in at the mo isn't it? Il be the first to call for the closure of this offensive twaddle!

This will have a good run.
When I saw it in both Toronto and New York it was superb, 5 star show, it's good to see Disney have finally got their act together, after the adysmal The Little Mermaid and the not too great Tarzan, would add Newsies to the list, but that was never designed to be a hit show.

2-3 years would be decent and on par with Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast. I wouldn't be surprised if Frozen ends up at the Prince Edward after Aladdin although I imagine that won't happen until late 2019 or early 2020 at the earliest.

I would happily pay to see Friend Like Me and A Whole New World live on stage so I can't wait!

Look at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre: Lion King, followed by Mary Poppins, and now Aladdin. If it were for me, there can't be enough Disney shows running simultaneously

Look at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre: Lion King, followed by Mary Poppins, and now Aladdin. If it were for me, there can't be enough Disney shows running simultaneously It helps that Disney has the lease on the theatre, Poppins lasted as long as did at the New Amsterdam because Disney had nothing to replace it with straight away until Aladdin came along so it chugged along nicely and the theatre was dark for a year while it was being renovated. Frozen is rumoured for the St James Theatre in 2018 which would make it the first time Disney has had a show in a theatre not owned by Nederlander or the New Amsterdam.

I just can't get past the feeling it's a Christmas show! Maybe it's because Americans don't have Panto, but for me Aladdin just doesn't feel right in the middle of summer! Happy to be proved wrong though.

Note that tickets for most of the Grand Circle for Press Night on 15 June are available and they are at a lower price than the same seats for other nights. Note the earlier start time and 'be seated by 6.30' request.
