Just read of FB this was cancelled last night (15 minutes after it was meant to start) due to problems with the plumbing and the toilets being out of use.
(insert own joke here)

He's quite good at avoiding the question in a number of places there, isn't he.

I went back last week after winning the lottery and was the first time I’ve been back since DJW left. Michael was great as the Genie, but he honestly can’t live up to Trevor or James’ charisma. I felt the whole show upon revisiting just felt tired and lacking the sparkle I originally saw in it three years ago on Broadway and the West End debut. If this closed tomorrow to make room for Mary it would definitely be justifiable I’m afraid.

If anyone missed the Mary Poppins thread, Aladdin closes end of August 2019 to make way for it.

If anyone missed the Mary Poppins thread, Aladdin closes end of August 2019 to make way for it. As much as I like the show, their initial casting has put me off and I'm not too sad to see Aladdin closing. Not overly happy about Mary Poppins being its replacement either, but hey...

Oh good. My mother won a competition for two tickets and we haven't decided when we're going yet, and the way you were all talking about the imminent closure announcement had me worried for a few days! Glad to see it was the announcement that was imminent rather than the closure.

Do we expect Alladin to tour now? Obviously within the constraints of which venues can handle “that” special effect because I think audiences would be justified in feeling shortchanged without it. The potential audience for a tour must be huge surely?

I have a feeling the WMC in Cardiff may have this has their Christmas show next year or 2020 as we normally get the family ones. They haven't announced anything yet as they normally do at this time of year Aladdin will be our xmas show next year probably or Manchester Palce could have it. I think it will do a lion King tour route.

Lion King is meant to be touring and is (or was) booked into venues. An Aladdin tour maybe why the beauty and the beast one was pulled.
Pantos have been doing flying carpets for years so I don't see a reason why a tour couldn't do one.

I know that Lion King is returning to the Sunderland Empire, but I'm not sure about any other venues.
I'd imagine that this would do all the big venues like Manchester Palace, Birmingham Hippodrome, Sunderland Empire, Edinburgh Festival (Cam Mac doesn't use the Playhouse), and maybe some smaller/medium venues like Norwich and Plymouth Theatre Royals.

Dublin too probably. They get very long sit downs of the big productions.

Aladdin has been touring the US and Australia so it’s not impossible, the only effect I imagine would be altered would be anything involving trap doors

Wonder if they announce a tour when they release the next and final booking period?

Probably go the Dreamgirls route of closing the show but announcing a tour to soften the blow of the news of closure.

I'm hoping for some good discounts for this towards it,s closing. It's the one musical I haven't seen which has been running for a while now.
I've heard mixed things, but I'm interested (if only to see the wonderful genie moments and the flying carpet)

Is it likely the current cast will stay until it closes?

So I took the littlest to the matinee today as I finally managed to snag a couple of rush seats for this after having tried for a while.
The sets and costumes are great (esp the carpet!) and the genie stole the show, but as a whole the production just didn’t do it for me. Littlest loved every minute of it though and I suppose that’s what matters. It was their first proper theatre (as I refuse to count Peppa Pig a couple of years ago!).

I had two rush tickets in my basket today, and decided against it as we’re all under the weather. So glad your little one loved it. It was the first “proper” thing my little one saw (although I imagine the Little Angel theatre might be annoyed to see me say that.)

I need to add to tickets section but think I will have 2 seats for matinee on 8th November if anyone interested. I need to double check row but thing Row E stalls middle section.
My 93 year old mum organised another group outing but miscounted so ended up with 2 spare tickets. Think they work out at about £30 each but guess she would be open to offers.
