I think I may have mentioned this on the old board.
The Bolshoi will be at the ROH from 25th July to 13th August performing 5 different ballets.
Amongst the stars coming over is the incredibly handsome Denis Rodkin ( *swoons * )
Friends of the ROH can book from the 1st March.

Wonder what tickets at the ROH cost?
I boggled at the prices of the Bolshoi in Moscow, though turns out that they aren't showing any of their great ballets when I'm there. Just my luck, getting to sit through four hours of un-subtitled Russian opera instead.

Erf, about as bad as in Moscow then. Thanks, but I guess I'll stick with the cinema broadcasts...

Some of the Stalls Circle tickets close to the stage with decent enough views (missing stage but so close to the action that you do see) are fairly cheap, and there ought to some standing tickets left for a Swan Lake or two - def worth it at £15.
The side-amphi seats can be pretty good too and at £34 they ain't too bad.
If you don't like standing, best deal in my opinion are the 'restricted by pillar but you just have to lean a little backwards for the perfect view' stalls circle seats C36 & C77 at £55. A bit more expensive than usual, but nice to know that neighbouring seats are either 105 or 77 - and some of those have worse views.

Thanks for the heads up!
It's been a very long time since I saw the Bolshoi (Irek Mukhamedov was dancing Spartacus in Dublin - very happy memories!). I'm sure the company's very different now.
Not a bad selection of ballets for the 2016 visit. I might have liked to see The Taming of the Shrew, or maybe Flames of Paris, but both are sadly on during the first week of August when I am on holiday. Too bad! I'll just have to see what ticket availability is like for the other ballets when booking opens for the general public in April.

Is Taming of the Shrew any good then?
I saw a clip online, that looked very modernist which doesn't tickle my fancy. It's on at the New Stage during the days we're in Moscow. I have been dithering about it, because I DO want to see the legendary Bolshoi Ballet, but I don't want to see any "modern" nonsense, I adore the truly classical ballet en pointe and everything.

Couldn't agree more ! I saw at the cinema their Nutcracker ( superb ) and they showed a clip of The Taming of the Shrew yep sadly modernist written all over it, still I'm intrigued by The Flames Of Paris never seen that...

Flames of Paris is a delightfully bonkers revolutionary romp. Music stolen from anywhere and everyone, a ballet within a ballet danced by butterfly-like creatures, barricades and the storming of the Bastille....
youTube clip of Osipova/Vassiliev in Flames of Paris
Taming of the shrew is modern. Lots of dancing, slightly thin story, marginally less sexist than some other Shrews apparently

Thanks for this! Can't say I'm too thrilled, but nothing can help the fact that they aren't doing any of the big lovely ballets that weekend and I suppose seeing this beats sitting in the hotel room by 9pm watching Russian telly.
Still hoping that the Stanislavsky will be putting on something good that weekend we could go and see instead, but may give this a go. The chap with the long dark hair looks rather dashing, so that should entertain me for two hours.
