Who is Charity? - I hope they cast someone who can dance ... unlike what they did at the Chocolate Factory ...

I was excited to spot this tweet yesterday:
However, Evelyn has since confirmed she was just singing at the launch event and isn't going to be in the show!

I can usually find at least one positive thing about every musical I've seen. Even Wicked has that song, the one about physics. The exception is Sweet Charity.
Despite all the great, 5* reviews for the Royal Exchange production last Christmas, I just couldn't bring myself to go and see it.
Along with The Pajama Game and Hair, Sweet Charity is one of those musicals from the 1950s and 60s that should be allowed to quietly slip into retirement. Sorry!

Well, TallPaul, I feel the same way about Brigadoon so I'm not going to berate you for not giving "Sweet Charity" a chance. BUT It has a heart warming story which is not too sickly sweet, it has energetic dance routines and a slew of great songs (Big Spender, Where am I going, Rhythm of life, There's got to be something better than this, I'm a brass band, I love to cry at weddings) So, whilst I respect your opinion..... YOU ARE JUST PLAIN BLOODY WRONG. SO THERE. NOW GET YERSELF OFF TO NOTTINGHAM!!!!!

Oh TallPaul I find 'Sweet Charity' a bit of a diamond really. The story is really rather sweet (well bittersweet really) and it's got some cracking songs in it. Plus, did I mention that the Nottingham Playhouse production stars all round sex-God Marc Elliott and his puppy dog eyes so it's bound to be magnificent.

I think Marc Elliott is a BRILLIANT and very fresh choice as Charity. Can't wait to see what he does with the part.

Okay, for everyone determined to torture themselves, public booking opens on Friday 6 October at 10am sharp. Don't be late!
Watch them go and change it, just to spite me, but at the Nottingham Playhouse the cheap seats are usually right at the front, giving the best view of Marc Elliott, whoever he is. I think that's called a a win-win.
And the stage door opens right onto the pavement, so there's nowhere to hide. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing, eh @ryan.

Quite often theatres release seats staggered. They'll probably release more as they sell the ones currently on sale - it'll mean people are less spread out in the auditorium
