Everybody's Talking About Jamie's Gabrielle Brooks will play Dorothy, with Andrew Langtree as Scarecrow, Max Parker as Tin Man and Jonathan Broadbent as the Lion.

No mention on promotional material of either ALW or TR, just Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg, so I'm assuming it's the original version.

If it is credited as "adapted by John Kane" then yes it will be the RSC version.
After seeing La Strada and Jane Eyre this year, I would love to see Sally Cookson, or someone with the same sort of style take on The Wizard of Oz one day. I imagine it could be pretty awesome.

After my lunchtime perambulation, I can confirm that it is the John Kane version. Just imagine if it was the Sarah Kane version!

It's basically just the film script on stage (with a few extra bits here and there and inclusion of "The Jitterbug" number) that was written for the RSC in the late 80s and is now used for most school and amateur productions. |

I'm beginning to think it's now just a marketing tool, as it seems to happen every year, but this has been extended by a week until 20 January 2018.
Gabrielle Brookes will play Dorothy (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), with Catrin Aaron (The Indian Doctor) as The Wicked Witch/Miss Gulch, Jonathan Broadbent (Gimme Gimme Gimme) as Lion/Zeke, Ryan Ellsworth (Island at War) as The Wizard of Oz/Professor Marvel, Andrew Langtree (The Royal) as Scarecrow/Hunk, Michael Matus (Endeavour) as Oz Doorkeeper/Uncle Henry, Sophia Nomvete as Glinda/Aunt Em, Max Parker as Tin Man/Hickory and Rhiannon Wallace (Casualty) as the Puppeteer.

Im looking forward to the productions images for this as the Crucible do put on lovely shows and I was a little let down by the design for Annie get Your Gun last year

Either she was already contracted, or she's gambled that eight weeks work as a lead will be better for her long-term career than perhaps six months in the West End. She can certainly sing.
And from the rehearsal photos, it looks like there is a revolve!

I just saw the first half of this. Dreadful. I can’t believe they charging around £40 for these tickets - I only paid a fiver, thank god. What can I say? I cant believe Sheffield Theatres conjured up something this tacky. I’ve seen amateur productions with more aesthetic appeal. Slippers that were more white than red. A blue dress that turned green under the lighting... haha. I don’t think I have the vocabulary to describe the munchkins and the witch. The whole thing was so poor for Sheffied - I wish I could praise the direction or cast or something, but sadly I can’t. Interesting to know what others think. Hopefully I haven’t turned into Scrooge.
