Me too! Even though he is still widely revived he isnt considered "cool" the NT ignored him for years. Roll on the Dromgoole season! It is true Shaw has been under-represented in the NT repertoire compared with Sir David Hare for example. I recall when Hytner staged "Man and Superman" in 2015 he said something like "just because I think he's a boring old windbag doesn't mean we shouldn't so his plays". The first half of the this play, right up until the plane crash, did sort of validate Hytner's comment for us. Beyond dull. Why inflict that on an audience? Everything after the plane crash and the interval almost made up for it. Almost... |

If you are keen on Shaw there is still time to catch Heartbreak House at the Union Theatre. It is on until 3 Feb. I saw that but have seen two revivals so want to focus on those i havent yet seen. |

Years ago I saw Peter O'Toole take on "Man and Superman". O'Toole won by a knockout.

It's not that long since Watford Palace did Arms And The Man, another Shaw which is less frequently revived. They were a bit ahead of the curve and as I saw the Watford production, I probably wouldn't go to another soon, but there must also be a market for a further revival?
