I saw this at the Landor years ago and was really disappointed. There was a lovely song about dogs (or it may have been cats...) but that was the only highlight. Hopefully the union will do a better job.

Is he lucky because he is stiff ,because he has found stiffness or does he dream of stiffness?

Hopefully the union will do a better job. So I'm right in thinking this isn't new, and may even have seen the Landor version. Somehow the email from the Union read as though it was a new work - or maybe I read it too hastily.

It's not only not new it's old - the very first collaboration between Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. I too saw the Landor production and thought it quite funny. Done with style it could be hilarious. A movie was made of it a couple of years ago to little acclaim. BTW the "stiff" of the title is a corpse.

I enjoyed the production at the Landor. I don't think it's an amazing show but if done right it has the potential to be really funny.

Just to boost this if anyone has hesitations going to see this i would highly recommend.
Really enjoyable score and a talented cast. The woman playing Rita (who i think is nominated for an Offie award) was a huge standout and played it perfectly. I thought it was staged cleverly considering the confines of the Union theatre.
I wish it was presented as a one act rather than a two act. Would be a much stronger 90 minutes show that a sliiiightly drawn out 1hr 50 mins.
