I noticed that too! Must be some kind of sign I’m mainly waiting for pictures of Lee Pace next to Sue Brown because that is going to be a hilarious family portrait (given she’s tiny and he’s an actual giant!)

That... and any production pictures or magazine shoots where cast members appear, preferably in costume, by the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.

The FB page put up a few pictures of the first day of rehearsals. I have 2 very important questions: 1. Where is James McArdle hiding (and has he lost the godawful beard yet) 2. Who do I have to bribe/f***/kill to get the mini Angel from the set model?

Angels featuring in Vogue by Annie Leibovitz. I’m over here nerding out about the fact it’s an in character/costume shoot.

Dans ma chamber, d'accord. (Je souhaite)
But this is the question I keep asking? that's all that's in Vogue. But I'm hoping the others were there and we get to see them eventually...Meanwhile, my, my Lee Pace is indeed a tall gentleman.

Meanwhile, my, my Lee Pace is indeed a tall gentleman. 1.96m apparently. That's about 6'5" according to my conversion table. Richard Armitage is 1.89m. Just out of interest . . .

And out of interest he's got a good 7 inches on Garfield then...and a good 5 on McArdle...
IN HEIGHT YOU FILTHY PEOPLE.

He certainly is tall. Not quite sure yet if he reads "Marlboro Man" to me... (ok, I still haven't got over the fact we won't get our daily pic of Rocky on Broadway during the run). Also, dónde está Nathan Stewart-Jarrett? Why isn't he gracing the pic donning one of those gorgeous winter coats Belize wore at the NT?

There's a nice short piece in the Talk of The Town section in the current New Yorker (Feb 12th and 19th) written by the always reliable Rebecca Mead about Finn Caldwell teaching the Shadows of the Broadway production how to operate the wings of the Angel. They are rehearsing with the London production wings but having to make new ones as the old ones aren't fit for purpose. Not sure if this link will work, or if it is behind a paywall (I have a New Yorker subscription): www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/02/12/wings

It works jek thanks for sharing! All of the movement/puppetry team are brilliant and fascinating artist. I'm curious how much has had to be rebuilt for the new staging- I know that there's no under-stage space there so anything that came up in London now has to slide on. Whether that meant a total rebuild or not I don't know. Likewise I'm curious at any costume tweaks (particularly for Joe, given obviously it'll be entirely new costumes).

Seems to be struggling sales wise in NYC - its been put on TDF. Surprising considering it was such a hot ticket at the National. I think maybe it is a factor (especially with the early performances) that they need to be bought together and seen pretty much consecutively rather than the opportunity to buy single tickets.

I think you're right- I also think they may have over-estimated themselves with the size of the house (I know other factors- set size and availability will have gone into it, but I think its a barn of a place for a play to fill) It's a tough sell of a play- tourist crowds aren't going to commit/take a gamble on it, so you're relying on a core audience of theatre goers and people who want to see the cast to go and again it's a big commitment time and money wise. I think it will pick up once reviews are in, but it's a shame after the instant sell out (well close to) at the NT

It was akin to sitting at the rear of the Apollo Vic so I can't imagine how distant it will feel for a play. I think it will definitely sell once it is all ticking, those early performances though won't attract anyone who's not local as they are quite odd dates to be sold together

As will the fact as you say, you can't pick and choose dates. Some people would want to see part 1 on one weekend say and part 2 another, but they can't do that here. I think reviews will bump it up a bit, but honestly it's never been exactly an easy sell 'Hey 7.5 hours of politics and AIDS yeah? yeah?' (I mean we know it's wonderful when you get in there but on paper that's a hard sell!)

Was looking online at the buzz of the show and found a very funny video where they are singing happy birthday to Susan and she is in shock and everyone looks very confused. I just love Denise Goughs reaction, also very happy there first preview went well but if Follies can return to th national please can Angkes come back too. /video/1

Look I say just make it the new War Horse, we'll bring it back every few years and everyone can bitch about how the NT is going to hell in a handbasket. But those of us who go will have a marvelous time.
