This is more of a Twitter related one but people who constantly complain to companies by @ them but they always seem to put hey at the beginning of their tweet so you see it in their timeline. I think if you've got a complaint, use the appropriate channels and not annoy their social media account

Individuals who retweet the same old c**p from their blog, so you end up having to unfollow them as this clogs up your timeline, and you then miss out on new tweets which might be interesting.
Companies who don't understand that there's a way to promote their organisation and it's not simply by tweeting boring, bland, self-promoting non-news, e.g. about attending conferences.

People have already mentioned most of my pet peeves including the one-trick ponies who forever only post about their kid or their cat, etc.
Another one, that seems to be very German is to not use your real name but some ridiculous shortened version of your first name or first/last name like Kath Rin, So Sa or Mel Coconut. I was contacted by so many old school "friends" (I use the term friends very lightly here) and I keep thinking that if I wasn't using my proper full name, they hadn't found me. I might not be able to find old friends because of this silly obsession to use a weird abbreviation.

I think if you've got a complaint, use the appropriate channels and not annoy their social media account I do this (not constantly though, if that helps). Sometimes the "appropriate" channels send you round and round and round in circles, and a teeny dose of public shaming on Twitter is the only way to get a conclusion. It's not my first port of call, but it is an effective one when you need it.

Another vote for baby profile pictures: you are not your baby. And an extreme close up of a giant baby head is a bit terrifying to tell the truth. General public baby-obsession. There are actual Facebook groups/Message Boards where you can baby-bore to your heart's content with people who actually care- go do it there!
Also joint Facebook profiles. As in couples who share one because aparently being an individual is overrated.
People who Facebook message out of the blue and just go 'hey' clearly waiting for you to ask what's wrong.

Both to the Siamese Twin thing and to the Baby Bores, who only ever post pictures of their brats, like they themselves (the adults) have ceased to exist. We became Facebook Friends at some point because I liked YOU and was interested in YOUR life, I am not your little brat's Facebook Friend and don't care about its playschool cupcakes.

Open profiles. People sharing their entire life with any casual passer by or nutcase.
I have never understood this.

Selfies. I don't mind posting a selfie from time to time, we all do that, but photographing yourself every hour and posting it also every hour, well, that's a different story. Even worse if a photo is posted with a comment saying, for example, "am I not beautiful?". No, you're just narcissistic. Nude selfies. A few days ago I discovered that my ex started posting them on Instagram - I assume he is single again... and I'm pretty sure he will be unless he stops. Oh, and food photos. Nope. I don't care about your lunch unless it's absolutely amazing/ridiculous ("We Want Plates" kind of thing, for example - chips served in a shoe or something). Sharing results of numerous silly Facebook tests, you know: "which colour are you?", "how does your name sound in the Klingon language?", "what shape of a cucumber are you?", "how would you die in the Middle Ages?", "what is your age in dog years"? et cetera.
(Ah, speaking of dogs, I don't really mind cat and/or dog photos - probably it's because I also post too many blurry pictures of my chubby sausage dog and my terrier, but it's not my fault, they're very photogenic...)

While I'm here (I made the mistake of checking Facebook in between) yes, those 'Back to School' posts. Just last year in fact my Mum sent me a text saying 'What's with all these back to school pictures? Was I supposed to take one every year. I didn't'
Which about sums up my feelings on the matter. I've also just seen one where they had the entire extended family (both parents, both sets of grandparents) there for the first day. Chirst alive not even that many people came to my graduation (granted most of them were dead by then but it's no excuse frankly)

Twitter having decided in the last few months to make you wade through loads of posts that people you follow have favourited. I've tried everything I can think of but can't make it stop. It now takes twice as long to go through my timeline as it used to so half the time I just give up.
Endless anti-Brexit & anti-Tory RTs, mostly from various opera critics I follow. The problem is I don't want to stop following them because I do want to know when they've posted reviews. I've tried muting various words but it doesn't seem to help much.

Social media, much like life means being exposed to people you don't neccesarily agree with. So I suggest you do what the rest of us do- either engage with them politely or ignore those aspects of their posts rather than expecting things to be curated towards your personal politics or social media preferences. Sorry but it really annoys me when people seem to think others shouldn't share their political views on social media just because they don't happen to align with their own. I have no problem with the pro-Brexit and Tory friends and aquaintneces I have as long as they stay on the right side of 'not offensive' and 'not personal' they're equally entitled to share their thoughts along with theatre reviews or annoying pictures of their kids.

Whenever I follow a new theatre, I go for the option for making sure their retweets don't show up in my timeline. If their constant RTing of politics is more of an annoyance than their RTing of anything else is a joy, then I can highly recommend doing the same to these opera critics. You'll still get their own content, but not the RTs, and it's more foolproof than keyword-muting.

I do try to ignore the RTs but it's quite difficult when sometimes there are 20+ RTs within a few minutes. And some of them are fairly offensive in terms of how anti they are. I think it's clear based on personal experience and what anyone can see from your posts you just think your'e entitled to live in a bubble where you don't have to acknoledge there are different views in the world- sorry but part of being an adult is dealing with that. It's pretty immature to believe you can just la la la your way through life and not have to at least acknowledge there are other viewpoints in the world. If posts are actually offensive report them. And to turn off RT's you click on the three dots next to the follow button, there's a drop down list and you click on it.

Go the profile page of the offending party, look for the button on the right-hand side that says "following". Click on the three little dots next to that, and you get a dropdown menu, you want to select "turn off retweets". (If you're doing this through the mobile app, the three little dots are in the top right, that's the only difference though.)

That change Facebook made quite recently where people can put their crappy, boring, inconsequential status update in a great big coloured square which then assaults you in your news feed. It's basically saying "this is so important I'm determined to draw your attention to it".
No it isn't.

Accounts set up for fringe shows that do nothing but tweet "our show opens xx date". That's not how you use social media for marketing.

People for whom it is important that you know they don't have a Facebook/Twitter presence. Like... congrats?
