Saddened to read this morning of the death of Glen Campbell at 81, he bravely fought Altzheimer's for many years and only recently released his final album.
Not a great country fan myself but he did release some classic records in particular the stuff written by Jimmy Webb.

Some beautiful songs, for sure, and he made quite a contribution to the music of his choice. Those who knew him well have been saying some nice things about him. RIP.

One of my absolute favourite songs ever. A wonderful demonstration of how notes and chords can convey so much - the yearning in just the music of that song is so moving.
A great talent and very sad indeed to learn he has died. Not only was his final album fairly recent, it's not too long ago he did his final live shows.

Oh what a shame. It was hardly unexpected at this point but that doesn't make it any less sad. Still, that's one hell of a legacy to leave behind.

Sad news, apart from being a huge star in his own right he also starred in True Grit and earlier in his career was a member of the famous Wrecking Crew.
Sadly I never met him, but I heard a nice story once that he was seen stood outside a hotel in Birmingham in his Cowboy Hat smoking a huge cigar chatting to his fans.
Farewell Rhinestone Cowboy.

Sad to read of the passing of Glen Campbell – a classy performer.
Reading his obits, I am reminded of what the late Dockyard Doris used to say: 'By the time I get to Phoenix all the shops will be shut.'
Happy memories of both artistes.
