So sad. Talented lady, and a classy one.
I met her once, almost accidentally when I was too young to appreciate who she was but I remember her being kind and sweet to myself and my older relatives who were with me, who did know her and were excited to meet her.

ah that is a passing of a real legend, and a direct connection to so much of musical theatre history. Am happy to have seen her many times, including the diabolical Carrie. She did a great concert with wally at Manchester's royal exchange; perfectly intimate. a glorious glamorous voice. Farewell Ms Cook....and thank you for your legacy and recordings.

Wonderful voice! Especially in the song Ice Cream from She Loves Me.
I saw her in the original Carrie in Stratford and then in concert at the Lyric in 2001.

A unique talent. I cherish my memories of the three or four times I saw her in concert, especially with the wonderful Wally. One of the truly greats of the musical theatre.

The Associated Press is reporting that her last meal was vanilla ice cream. When I read that I just lost it. RIP.

That really is the most extraordinary fact. Just been bingeing on her on YouTube and the great Kennedy Center tribute to her, which includes Glenn Close and Audra! An irreplaceable talent.

An icon and legend of the Broadway stage and classic musical cinema.
Monkey, did you actually see her in that infamous near-death moment? She always came across as very calm and wholesome, but apparently her remark was "I can't believe I'm making my Broadway return for this crap!"
RIP Lady Cook. Sweet dreams be yours, dear. Now goodnight.

Monkey, did you actually see her in that infamous near-death moment? Yes, I was at Stratford, press night, central row D. For some reason, right next to the box office manager. Wow that's like witnessing theatre history right then and there!
