Still bitter at the closing of both Henderson and Dagenham. ... just thought I'd throw that in there.

Mackintosh must really be losing bundles of cash on this.

Probably just the fact it's selling terribly

Probably just the fact it's selling terribly Based on what evidence? It was very full tonight. Just wondered what your sources were to make such assertive comments?! Are you a member of the box office team?

This seems to be selling extremely well at the moment. It had a slow start but has steadily built its audience through excellent reviews and word of mouth.
Have no idea where the contrary facts are coming from.

Today Tix are doing seats next week from £16. Why are there always offers when I'm busy. The seats that are £16 are Upper Circle, and I would totally recommend it! I was in the back row centre and the view was fantastic! You can see everything, you don't feel far away, you get to see the ensemble numbers completely and you grt to see how the amazing stage actually looks with the four revolves.

More thoughts on the show. Went again Tuesday night, day seated. Arrived at 10 but there was no queue so waited for 15 minutes as I didn't want to seem to keen. Had front row centre, and at 6ft2 the view was perfect. On this occassion a few understudies were on. Gerard Casey (usually James) was on for Chitterlow. Chitterlow isn't my favourite character, but Gerard really amplified that for me. Alike to his photographer, he made the character very camp, and didn't really capture the humour like Ian Bartholomew. I think Harry Morrison was on for James/photographer and whilst the photographer was a tad camp, it was subtle and not excessive. In fact acting more like drunk than camp, and generally far last stereotypical. Also, Lauren Varnham was on for Flo. I loved Lauren, she really 'got the character'. She was cheeky, chirpy and had brilliant chemistry with Pierce, Buggins etc. Just a shame that Flo is a small part. From seeing Lauren it is a shame she isn't Flo regularly (although Bethany Huckle is brilliant) or at least get to understudy Helen or Ann. Having seen a few understudies I'm definitely keen to catch Sam O'Rourke as Arthur. He is adorable as Buggins so I'm sure he should capture Arthur very well.

Loads of seats on the website for every day Which then get "filled" on the day Despite the cast trying their best And the critics lauding praise on this show It's really not captured the musical market Too dated and babyish

Parsley - you are on a mission for the demise of this show and of course you are entitles to your opinion but I happened to love it. I am all for getting behind a show we like and watching a show fail that we don't (as it justifies our own feelings) but this show employs a ton of people, both on stage and off, and aren't you for full employment?

I just find the mismatch between the way it's being promoted And the actual end product At odds and disparate I think the cast would be better served in a more meaningful show The lead has bags of charisma and talent And yet he is Playing one of the wettest and most awful lead characters I think I have ever seen

Furthermore
I have given opinions on this show
This time last year
Many people took pleasure in being purely malicious about a show I liked
And which (like this musical) was loved by the critics
But didn't have commercial longevity
I doubt Half a sixpence will make it to even the 10 month mark that did

Parsley you must be
EJ Thribb (17 1/2)
Of Private Eye fame.
Pleased to meet you.
I have admired your poetry
For quite a long time but
I always thought you
Were made up. But now
I know you aren't.

I can't be the only one who gets annoyed by how parsley structures his posts? Nothing personal, parsley, but why do
you structure your
posts this
way
?

Parsley - you say people were malicious to you for liking a show, but the reason they are malicious is because your posts aren't nice. They are mean, combative and not constructive at all. We are all entitled to our opinion, which is what has so great about this board. We should all just learn to be a bit nicer. Geesh

I actually agree with Parsely about this musical. I was expecting it to be far better and came away disappointed. I found the leading man to be very Norman Wisdom esque in his performance, it was quite off putting. Whilst there's no denying he is a superb dancer, I wasn't blown away by his singing and acting choices throughout. The girl who played Ann also seemed very theatre school and false. The staging was great, the ensemble was strong but the cheesy Norman Wisdom type acting just didn't sit comfortably with me. Shame.

I should add that the box office were very reluctant to sell me a discounted day seat when I arrived for the matinee an hour before curtain up. They seemed to think I would pay full price, even though I knew there were lots of seats unsold. They were actually quite rude and unhelpful, which suprised me given the amount of unsold seats and with only an hour to go before the show started. So... I walked 5 minutes from the theatre to the TKTS booth and they very kindly sold me a top price stalls ticket for £25. Just something to be aware of if anyone is thinking of day seating (and the 'official' day seats in Row C of the stalls have all been sold when you arrive at the box office).
