Yes, unfortunately I can only see that as furious back-peddling from Julian Fellowes as the last article relased by The Stage about him showed him defending the all-white casting due to that god-awful phrase "historical accuracy", or words to that effect. And that he also wants the world to end up in a place where a white man can play Othello (with a black man as Iago? Can't remember), and no one bats an eyelid!

And that he also wants the world to end up in a place where a white man can play Othello (with a black man as Iago? Can't remember), and no one bats an eyelid! Very true! The period of a show shouldn't reflect the casting - Hamilton is set before Half A Sixpence but has such a diverse cast and they're all real people. What annoyed me with that article is he also said "People say there should be more Black Actors Awards but I think it will come when they start getting employed in main roles." - how could he say that when his show doesn't have a single black actor? It shouldn't just be shows like Dreamgirls, Motown, Lion King etc that black actors have to go to to get work.

I have t been following this thread much but coming back after a while there seems to have been a huge shift in opinion. It all seemed a bit "meh" to begin with, now everyone is raving. Is Charlie Stemp in this until the current end of run?

Agree with theatremonkey...I pitch up a lot at the box office before a show and ask (with huge charm) "if by any chance you have any day seats left?" I would say that 80% of the time I get some deal or other. They usually say we have no day seats left but I can offer you this or this. By mentioning day seats you are implying what you are prepared to spend and usually some offer is made. It may be a little more than a day seat price but always a bargain. The only time this does not work is if the theatre is genuinely almost full, then of course they have no need to discount! For what it's worth, I tried this a week or two ago - rocked up about 7:10pm on a whim, asked about dayseats, none left, but he 'could offer me a £25 seat in the Upper Circle' (near the back of it too). I said no, as I had seen on the itsagifttickets.com site that there were lots of Stalls seats still available, in both top and second-price categories. Figured I could probably get a better deal at another time, so politely declined.

I was in the Royal Circle on Sat and actually preferred sitting higher up in this show. The ensemble numbers and choreography were the highlight for me and sitting higher up gave me a better overview of those.

Hoping to see the show on Saturday next week. Can anyone give any advice on how good the back row of the grand circle is? The seats left in the balcony for same price are restricted view so I'm leaning towards Grand circle.
Any advice would be faab

I've sat in the back row of the Grand Circle twice - once central and once towards the end. You really don't miss anything, not even the front of the stage (except for the band who are raised above the stage, but for me that's not a big issue). Also, and believe it or not, you don't feel that high or distant from the stage - a small theatre benefit here - and facial expressions are still visible. I presume the seat is still £20something and at that price it is a bargain for what you get. The only downside, as I found be quite tall, is that the legroom is limited, but again for the price I was more than happy to put up with it on two occasions.

I was going from advice elsewhere on this thread (and theatremonkey) that it's better appreciated from the stalls, for the view and the dancing. But opinions differ, of course As much as anything, that night I wasn't aching to see it and know I'll have plenty of other chances, so I was quite happy to say no and come back another day.

I also have sat back row of the Upper and also the Dress for this show... literally the difference is you can see the orchestra fro the Dress but not the Upper, whilst you can see everything else anywhere. I actually disagree with disagree that sitting in the Stalls is best for this show. I haven'tsat there yet, but I have a few friends who have sat there and in the Dress or Upper on a second watch and prefer to be slightly raised because the theatre is small so you get to see faces anyway, but you really get to watch the whole choreography and amazing staging better from there than on the floor. But that is, of course, just their opinions.

Ive sat second from front row of the Stalls, and second from back row of the Dress Circle. Front stalls is great for the day seat price, but the view from the dress really is somewhat better, you can really appreciate the choreography from a more raised viewpoint.
EDIT And the revolves!! How could I forget the revolves. Any fellow revolve-lovers will understand where I'm coming from, Half A Sixpence sure has a good'n.

Seen the show twice, once from row R stalls (great view) and once from front row (again great view). Guess it's down to personal preference, will go for dayseats again when I take my dad next month.

Day Seats definitely offer the best value for money, but I feel at top price, Dress Circle beats stalls for me

Went to see this show today. Thought Charlie carried it almost single handedly at times - overall, though, a strong show with a strong cast but I just adored Charlie. He truly deserves every award coming his way. If you looked for a definition of the word 'star' I think his face would be in almost every dictionary. Proverbially of course.

It obviously is very hit and miss because I also went on Saturday and got lucky with a £25 seat. Maybe my flirting skills have improved! (unlikely) ;-)

Got a reduced price for this tonight, front row of the Royal circle. Wow, brilliant view and great to see all the choreography.
Last time I came was dayseated front row.
My mother is loving it tonight (yes, I'm spending valentines with my mother....)
