Kinky Boots is fun, as is Book Of Mormon and the latter feels different and more daring than the standard musical fare. I wouldn't pick any Sondheim as imo the musical style is an acquired taste and had anyone taken me to Wicked (which I chose to see myself, once, just to discover what all the fuss was about), not only would I have had a bad time but it would probably have damaged my relationship with the other person for subjecting me to it as I wouldn't have been free to leave at the interval.
It may not yet be clear what your options would be when the time came, but maybe a play with songs, rather than an actual musical, would be a compromise? Though the distinction can be divisive, as we've seen elsewhere on this board!

My choices would be Kinky Boots, Wicked or Aladdin.

Think you made a good choice with Wicked. One of my favourites and with a great score and a spectacle hope your friends like it.
