I think it worth mentioning the fact that the last surviving British Danbuster: Johhny Johnson was awarded an MBE in the latedt Honours List, would ever you think of the Honours system this is one award that is long long overdue...

I had hoped for a knighthood for Johnny but yes, lovely to see him recognised at last.

Too little too late. A knighthood after never receiving any previous honour might have been a step too far in the honours committee's eyes. But certainly an OBE or even CBE was merited.
