I am so happy! Ruthie nailed the role when I saw it on Broadway. Really excited to see the show again next week. Any word on what her schedule looks like? Will she take over full time or will she alternate?
I must say props to the production for letting her start on her time and not firing her when she said she wasn't going to open it.

And an update on Kelli O'Hara's performance schedule: I wish to goodness she'd take a Saturday off! A bunch of weeknights & 1 weekday matinee aren't very helpful for those of us living outside London...
Edit: Ah no, I'm okay, the 13th is 2 days before my next temp job is due to start so I can go then. I can't wait to see Annalene Beechey performing again. It's been 6 years.
*Looks up @theatremonkey*
*Hopes stalls A19 for £37.50 will be okay.*
*Books*
*Curses at the new RUG site upon discovering they charge £1.50 for all delivery options apart from E-tickets. I hate E-tickets.*

And an update on Kelli O'Hara's performance schedule: Will those that bought tickets to these performances get an exchange or refund as they would have done on Broadway? Or will greedy producing practices mean it’ll be yet another West end bait and switch leading to disappointed audience members and inflated corporate bank accounts.

Apparently Ruthie Ann Miles went on tonight as Lady Thiang for the first time in London.
Was anyone there?

I was at the performance tonight. Ruthie was very good indeed - had a walking stick for the whole performance. She was (understandably) very very emotional at the end (uncontrollably sobbing), and Ken Watanabe picked her up.

I was Stalls A20 on Tuesday, there's a fair bit of light from the orchestra pit, you are sitting practically next to the gong! I actually enjoyed the seat for the view of the percussion .. But I missed nothing at all on stage, well worth the money. Only irritant was people in the interval getting their ices and making me stand rather than walk back up the central aisles. And the nearest exit door is next to stage door if you are that way inclined and not running for your train.

What an extraordinary woman Ruthie is for returning to the stage so soon after her tragedy. Cannot imagine the strength that took, but I hope she feels the love and respect from the London audiences.

Do you think Ruthie will only do a few performances? I would love to see her in action!

Do you think Ruthie will only do a few performances? I would love to see her in action! I'm sure she came all the way to London with the intention of playing the role throughout the rest of the run. Given her physical limitations (I didn't know she couldn't walk unaided still - what a trouper!), I'd bet they've already set up her schedule with an eye towards Naoko and her splitting the performances fairly evenly between them. I certainly can't imagine she'll be allowed to push too hard, especially with all of those extra double show days coming up in September. I'm going in September, and will love to see either Ruthie or Naoko in that role - rather selfishly, it's Kellie that I'm relieved to see is scheduled to perform the day we are going! Regarding Kellie's rather late announcement about the dates she won't be performing, it is a bit naughty that these dates weren't publicised earlier. She even tweeted, just a few weeks ago, that there were no additional scheduled dates for her to be off, and then she goes and announces quite a lot, for such a short run. Did she have a pre-planned reduced performance schedule during the B'way run? If not, it's pretty unfair to those ticket holders, who bought in good faith, only for the lead (in a very short run production) to announce lots of days/performances off extremely late in the day.

Kelli did all of the shows on Broadway and her understudy is now playing Rosalie in School of Rock on Broadway. Wasnt Annalene the originally Glinda standby in Wicked? I'm sure she'll be great.

It's so unfair - assuming they don't offer exchanges/refunds, which maybe they will. You can't blast Kelli O'Hara's face and claim the star is starring a Tony Winner only to turn around and say "just kidding" when it comes time to deliver the service. Kelli is the best thing about this revival. I would be devastated to miss her.
