Crap. I'm front row and I hate audience participation. You really don't need to worry. I hate audience participation as well but I had fun sitting in the front row - you might get touched by a 'blind' girl or get your hands shaken by some cast member, but that's about it.

I warmed to this more than i did to Bat Boy and just about shades it compared to Urinetown. The members of the cast that play multiple characters are kept busy but perform an admirable job. Certainly more comical than i anticipated it was a good night out.

Saw this this evening. That cast is seriously working its socks off. I came out loving it and so did the majority of the audience from what I could see.

Hi guys. Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this; saw the show tonight and now listening to the score on Spotify... a lot of the songs are out of order and some others don't appear at all/are replaced by others. Is this from a revival Wikipedia doesn't know about?!

Is this from a revival Wikipedia doesn't know about?! Essentially, yes. The cast recording is from an older version, which was one act straight through (instead of with an interval). The current score has a reed part (sax & flute) added to most numbers as well.

I was there this evening too. I left at the interval.
Just not my cup of tea at all. I really should know by now that campy/spoof musicals are not my thing. The cast were working hard, their voices were great and the sound in the venue was probably the best i've heard it, but the material did nothing for me. The 'duet' at the end of act 1 was the deciding factor.

I was there this evening, I loved it, so funny and such a talented cast especially the two blokes who seemed to be playing different characters in every scene.
David Bryan was in tonight too, which was exciting!

Also exciting that the writer was in yesterday! Love Bon Jovi.

I'm assuming the guy with David Bryan was Joe DiPietro, the other writer? I wonder if they're just here to see the show, or if this visit was business - i.e. if they're responsible for the changes the show's had (the moving of some songs, for example).
tbfl, I can totally see why this musical isn't for everyone, and you certainly weren't the only person who left at the interval. At least you weren't the person who left about five minutes before the interval, diving across the entire stage at breakneck speed, and presumably colliding with one of the actors who was coming in through the exit door in the dark!

I guess when you have to go, you have to go... Have to say that the broken toilet situation last night felt very in keeping with the show too! The biohazard tape was both decorative and accurate.

I suspect people involved will have tweaked it for a London audience too though.

Great show, fun, totally un pc. Managed to capture the sprit of the film, without coping it. (Storyline in finding quite different)
Plus it's so nice going to the Southwark Playhouse, without having to worry about getting there super early, incase they get a crazy queue!

I think this show did a weird run somewhere like Toronto fairly recently with the intention of doing a full Broadway run, and this is where the changes were made to the original short Off Broadway version that's on the cast recording. I guess the Broadway transfer never happened.

saw it this afternoon before their press performance, hugely agree its very bat-boy/urinetown/little shop of horrors; although thankfully the design and direction is much much better than southwarks bat-boy.
it was a shame to see it only about 50% full (but it was a tuesday matinee, i saw on the website the other ones are much more full), but the cast are great and its a great silly, rock and roll show with a catchy score.
if you have booked for row a theres a huge chance you're gonna be interacted with at some point!

This is definitely a word of mouth show & those reviews will give it another boost, it won't necessary have every seat sold each night but no doubt over 90% in..I expect like many of their others, come last week it will be hard to get a ticket as its builds its audience!!
My one regret was only deciding & getting a ticket in the 2nd to last week of the 'Carrie' run. Loved it but all of sudden with it ending it sold out meaning I only saw it once!
I really enjoyed this show the other, only a one time for me but I look forward to hearing how others find it on here!

Seeing this show was one of the best nights out I have had recently. Super funny and such a hardworking cast. Immediately booked again for next week.
I know it might not be everyone's cup of tea but if you like Urinetown/Bat Boy etc then this should be right up your street. Still humming the first song!

I hate audience participation as well but I had fun sitting in the front row - you might get touched by a 'blind' girl or get your hands shaken by some cast member, but that's about it. My face was touched all over by a blind librarian and scored a "what the f*** is this?" (her words) - yay And I'm never ever washing my face again.
