Forgive me if I'm half a century behind the times, but I just discovered Encore Radio and a good listen it is too. www.encoreradio.co.uk/about.phpDo any of you already listen?

Yes been listening since it launched. It's great. Even though I'm in the catchment area I can't get it on DAB so listen to it on my ipad.

I also listen, manage to get it on DAB only when the radio is by a window! But better than nothing. I really enjoy listening and they have some great variety, if not a tendancy for heavy repetition.
2 things though: Are they under a legal obligation to play Defying Gravity at least once every day or do they do that by choice? And secondly, will someone PLEASE tell Tim McArthur that Patti Lupone is pronounced LuPone as in phone NOT LuPone as in gone. Outrageous behaviour!!!

Just saw this radio station is closing down which is a shame. I’ve only recently started listening to it since I’ve been WFH, I do find they seem to repeat the same old songs all the time though.

It’s because its parent company has been bought by Bauer Media - they already run Magic at the Musicals, which they think is a better brand, and they don’t need two “musicals” stations.

I'm surprised it took them this long. Magic at the musicals still has real life presenters for some of the time, so was the brand they were putting their money behind. I think that leads to slightly more variety of songs but it is still a bit repetitive.
Are they putting adverts for Magic at the Musicals onto Encore radio to try and move the audience across?
I don't understand how the finances work though as Magic at the Musicals doesn't has adverts so who is paying for it?
