Based on tonight, no Jermaine (unsurprisingly) and no Simon. Benjamin Karan is on as JD (glad to have finally seen him). It’s unusual to have four people in the female ensemble.
Great show as always!

Was very surprised to see Jermaine back and doing to the pro-shot as it was assumed he was leaving at cast change as he came forward to take his 'final bow' with the other cast leaving at the time. I expect he'll be leaving within the next couple of weeks to start sister act rehearsals though.

Oh I loved Liam when he played it on tour. Was Vivian Duke? I feel my umpteenth visit coming on. Yes, she was. It was largely the same as the "movie" cast, with the exception of no Simon or Jermaine. An excellent show. They had the sound levels right. I expect Benjamin to be a really good JD and he was. The clearest diction out of anyone! A few small line changes. I don't know if that was because the previous cast had ended up improvising and adding things or not. Liam and Rory look great together, but don't goof around as much as George and Tom. Chris Parkinson was the only male ensemble member, so the stage could have looked a bit uneven, but it always seems to work. I guess also that everyone in the cast just has so much experience with the show, so they can work around whoever is available and slip right in. They did choose a particularly cute guy in the crowd to be Steve as well (but it took the lighting team a long time to find him) so that balanced things up. I see Chris Parkinson was on as Kurt on Saturday too, so perhaps they had no one left for the male ensemble roles at all! Hopefully they have someone planned to take over from Jermaine (assuming he is busy with Sister Act). Safe hands all round. Excellent rush ticket as usual. And the crowd appreciated this as much as always.

Todays show cancelled. Cast illness (non covid) apparently.
Also one of the cast members tweeting that a show report got circulated to the cast.
I’m sure these two facts are not connected 🙂

I was there yesterday and they were rather short of people. Only three people in the female ensemble and only Benjamin Karran in the male ensemble, so some interesting split tracks and we got to see Benjamin as a police officer.
Hannah Lowther was on as Heather Chandler. Excellent as always and I've now seen all three of her Heathers covers.
Jordan Cunningham was back as a special guest to play Kurt's Dad and Big Bug Dean. He wasn't in any ensemble roles and Coach Ripper was cut completely.
Everyone did very well, especially as they were short of people for even such things as moving the set about. A great audience as well. Shame about the cancellations today, but that's always the challenge when a bug circulates in a relatively small cast.

Do they make specific comments about cast performances?

If you've been called in, for the thousandth time, to save the day, for very little money, and then you end up reading a show report that lists all your mistakes, chances are you won't agree to come back in the next day to save the day!

Have just spent a while reading through the ShowReports twitter archive (some very amusing) and catching up with the story of what I presume was an accidentally circulated show report from the sound manager.
The funny thing is, I don't mind when there are small changes made to the show, especially when they don't change anything important. It is just something extra for people who have seen the show before to enjoy. Like yesterday, I did notice that Simon Gordon changed how he said a few of his lines (not the words, but some of the emphathis). It keeps things interesting for everyone.
I am reminded how brilliant Ailsa Davidson is as Veronica. When 42nd Street was playing, I remember the forum consistently saying how no one else could ever play Peggy Sawyer as perfectly as she does. It is the same with Alisa as Veronica.
Liam Doyle also sings well, acts well and looks great. My only complaint is he's offstage for too long in the second act!
Then you have Vicki Lee Taylor, who is perfect as Ms Fleming and is able to improvise with Steve without being cruel. Very flexible too.
I could say something positive about all the cast members, including Jordan Cunningham who I've been a fan of since his Jamie days and who saved the show yesterday. Considering the line changes, people covering different tracks and male ensemble tracks being covered by the female ensemble, I don't think you can fault anyone.
The single biggest failing I notice at Heathers is when the sound balance is completely wrong and the vocals inaudible. That one is really odd. You can sit in exactly the same seat, some times it's perfect, some times it really isn't.
But if this is the chaos that ensues from a single show report, it's just as well they don't circulate too often. I can imagine the chaos if any of the cast ever explored the information rights available to them in the UK (although this is something they're probably best to consider after they've left the show).

I didn't know it was this show with the "leaked" show report, I do wonder what was so bad it warranted commenting on, and I don't know if today's cancellations are linked to it. What I am surprised about is that after all the tumultuous calling back of ex cast members, how they havent added even just one male one female offstage swing is baffling. You wouldnt even need to rehearse them just bring back an ex cast member full time!!

It isn't really swings they lack, it is second covers for the main parts.

Thought it was interesting that Liam tweeted how wonderful Alisa is and she replied by thanking him ", especially after yesterday.' A friend was at the show on Saturday and he said that Ailsa seemed like she was struggling a little so could be related to that rather than the show report thing. I hope all the cast get a well rested day off as well as the unexpected one yesterday and come back in good health

Does this show report actually exist - has anyone seen it?
I also don't see how a show report could be leaked. Someone has been very unprofessional.
Here's some advice for budding DSMs based purely on my experiences so far in my career
Each of my show reports goes to the director/AD, the producers and where necessary - and only if notes are given - to LX and SND. Even then, I am very careful what I write and small things I just have a word.
It is a bond of trust with the SM team and cast, never write anything you wouldn't say to the person in the flesh.
Lots of DSM's log absolutely everything and producers/directors I work with absolutely hate that because they have to waste time reading through nonsense to get to anything actionable.
Never, ever criticise performances directly in a show report. It becomes an official document and would be available under a GDPR request in the case of tribunal, for instance.
Stick to the facts. I use character names to avoid personalising a note, but if giving a note which requires an actor's name use correct pronouns and a title. Cite specifics with no conjecture or other colour.
Bad example:
"John Smith was late again with his entrance for his big song, was chatting in wings"
Good example:
"Mr. Smith entered late at top of Act I, Scene II (Pg. 14 - "I Want Song"). This was the third occurrence of this specific issue. Company Manager will discuss this with Mr. Smith before the next performance and offer any assistance in preventing this from happening in future".

It's actually quite common. Most Company Managers have an email group that they attach it to (creatives, HODs, producers). Sometimes in their hurry to get away they send it to the wrong email group.

From what I’ve seen on Twitter (e.g. Liam Doyle’s tweet) it wasn’t leaked as such, but was accidentally sent to the cast (and I’m guessing did include personal critiques).

I'm completely torn between "I soooo want to read this" and "This should not escape into the wild, that would be bad".

Unfortunately due to multiple cast illness (non-Covid related), the matinee performance of Heathers the Musical today has sadly had to be cancelled. Hope everyone feels better soon and gets some much deserved rest. It's not surprising, considering they haven't bothered to replace 2 ensemble members since cast change, let alone swings (leaving 4 of their principles without understudies). Bayley took over from Mhairi in yesterday's matinee interval, leaving them with 4 ensemble members which is the absolute minimum they can run on. Sigh, it's getting quite tiring to have the same complaints with the brick wall that is the production company! Presumably they're just trying to hold out until the next cast change next weekend - I know Hannah and Teleri are leaving, not sure about anyone else. Hope to see Daisy Twells back. I'm betting they're madly ringing around to see who they can get back in to put the 5pm show on later.

I assume they've managed to drag some ex cast members back for later as on twitter they say it's going ahead this evening. Is it not odd that cast members are leaving at such staggered dates? Feels like there's been multiple mini cast changes lately. Which I imagine may not help (but obviously they do need to hire swings as everyone keeps saying!).
