Tonight I joined the ‘Heathers’ tribe!!
Yes it’s definitely a fan girl/boy show & yes there is pretty much screaming & cheering at every song but the young crowd are loving it & it’s good to see them enjoying theatre so much!!
This show reminded me of ‘Carrie’ with its songs & Sound (that score is better but there’s some excellent songs here) & Carrie voice is great (I like her).
I really enjoyed seeing Sophie Issacs & can’t cimplain with the two jocks in y-fronts in Act 2!!
Wow the stage-door look manic (left the young ones to it!) - enjoyed two nights at ‘The Other Palace’ was at ‘Prom Queen’ musical workshop last night!!

I just got back from seeing Heathers. First, thanks to the advice on this forum I managed to book a single seat in row E for £52 online this afternoon. Super happy to get a ticket! The show was excellent . The cast is one of the strongest I have seen, they really were all great - Carrie and Jamie are divine when they perform Seventeen. Yes there were some fan girls there but they added to the atmosphere and as others have said they only whooped and cheered at the end of the songs. All in all a great show performed in an intimate venue by a world class cast. What’s not to love? Ps I have a huge crush on Jamie now, he’s very sexy. And hugely talented. I also have a girl crush on Carrie for getting down and dirty in Dead Girl Walking and doing all us normal sized woman proud!

It is true that use of the word "normal" implies norms, which frequently means that those who don't fit such norms can be judged in some way.
However, it is ungenerous or misguided to attribute any such meaning or intention to littlefluffychick.

Her words are in fact about the use of the word "normal."
Generally and historically, in our society, average women, who are slightly overweight, are made to feel terrible. Women who are underweight, in fact, are typically presented as "normal" by society, such that even women who are BMI-optimum are made to feel "abnormal" and terrible.
Since neither women who are BMI optimum, nor women who are averagely overweight, nor women who are overweight at all, should be made to feel bad about being themselves, Littlefluffychick's use of the word "normal" in this context is actually an attempt to redress a wrong done by society, which has typically stigmatised women for being average, as well as for being overweight, as "abnormal."
In Carrie Ann Fletcher's performance, Littlefluffychick perceived an opportunity to reclaim pride in her averageness, and she used the word "normal" in it's most positive sense: to destabilize the implied judgement and consequent implanted self-hatred and self-consciousness that society burdens average women with.
By no means is it fair to suggest that there is even a whiff of intention, in her reclamation of stolen pride, that she intends to burden or brand skinny girls with bodyshaming issues. If you are a skinny girl, and feel that way, by all means speak up.
But as a reasonable person, I see only well-intentioned words. And while the use of the word "normal" is often dangerous, and "typical," "average," and "ordinary" are generally preferable, since those words are norm-neutral, the use of the "normal" word here can actually be taken to be a deliberate use, a strike-back at a society that would brand average women "abnormal."
Regardless, it's just ungenerous of us to go all judgemental and PC on someone on this board who is so obviously well-intentioned.

Come on it was quite clear what was meant, and it was a compliment to Carrie/the production. And let’s not drag out the “thin shaming” argument. Fatter people aren’t seen on stage and screen as much, and certainly aren’t as often allowed to be the love interest/sexualised and that’s what’s good about seeing Carrie in this role.
