Yes - the girls in Mean Girls don't look so miscast and most of them are in their early twenties. Physically, they are also comparable to teenage girls. These ladies are fully developed women well into their 30s.
In Wicked, at least the characters grow up from being teenagers to grown women. This looks a bit weird.

Without wishing to be crude about it but most 17 year olds are 'fully developed'
CHF is 25, and looks fairly young. I haven't examined the other girls up close but they look the same as any young 'teens' on stage...ie. like women in their 20s, which is fine. (see also every American High School drama ever)

I saw this tonight and really enjoyed it... except for Carrie. She has a lovely voice but oversings everything and it all just sounds pretty, there’s no indication of her emotion in her voice. Her acting consists of either looking doe-eyed or pulling OTT facial expressions straight from the Disney Channel. And someone really needs to talk to her about blending, she overpowers her JD in Seventeen and her alto harmony in Me Inside Of Me was the loudest. This is all stuff you learn within your first year of drama school and the rest of the cast, all excellent, really show her up as a result.

How successful have people been in the returns queue for this? I think I’d like to see it again, and the lottery thing seems unlikely. I need to hear Jenny O Leary sing ‘Kindergarten Boyfriend’ again or I might be a little upset.

I went Friday 15th. June 2018 and loved each and every minute of this show I am now obsessed with it I want to go again Thursday Matt if possible. are there any returns available thanks I loved Carrie she was amazing. Loved Jodie Steel she stole the show for me that night, she would be a perfect Regina George for when Mean Girls makes it's way to the west end. After she finishes in Rock of Ages of course. Great Athmospher in the building saw Andy Fickman a few times wondering about asking people questions about the show. And to top it all off Andrew Lloyd Webber was watching the show aswell this will be a night I will not forget for a very long time. Amazing show with fab Atmosphere (sorry for spelling it wrong) I really need to go again it was amazing. Best show of 2018 for me so far.

Oh dear. I found myself really struggling to engage with this. After the beauty and subtlety of Fun Home the previous evening which moved me to tears, this was very much at the other end of the spectrum and I sat watching it pretty impassively throughout. The sweltering, uncomfortably hot auditorium didn't help much either.
The positives... The three Heathers are great. Always a treat to see Sophie Isaacs on stage. All the ensemble are fine but Carrie paints Veronica in such broad strokes I couldn't bring myself to carealess about what happened to her. I actually didn't mind her as Wednesday in The Addams Family but she's a lot more exposed here. If you'll be wailing with laughter at the sight of Veronica gurning with another OTT facial expression every two minutes, you'll have a ball.
The fan girls all loved it of course, at least up to the predictable drama in the foyer after the show when it was announced there wouldn't be any signings. Prior to that, there were wild screams after every song which didn't relent even slightly throughout the whole show. Everyone on their feet immediately for the bows. The whole thing made for a detaching, slightly surreal experience.
Bah humbug. Two stars.

I love the cast recording of Heathers but I always skipped "The Me Inside Of Me" however I loved it in the show. Just shows how staging and context can alter your enjoyment/opinion of a song.

Saw the show tonight. Aside from the overreaction from the crowd, I really enjoyed it.
Jodie Steele and Jamie Muscato nailed it for me tonight - loved their performances.
Carrie Hope Fletcher has a great voice but I am not keen on her acting - I don’t get the hype around her to be honest.
I’d say vocally it’s the best show I’ve seen for a long time. A really strong cast and i’ve Always loved the way this shows give everyone their ‘moment’.
I saw the show off Broadway a few years ago - I know the production underwent huge changes and developments to get to where it is today. The new songs - I didn’t feel they were any more remarkable or memorable than what they replaced.
Hope it transfers because it’s a lot of fun and I think the masses would get it. It’s not too culty I don’t think.

I appreciate that the loud vocal appreciation and extended applause this show receives isn't to everyone's taste and wouldn't be expected (or tolerated) at all shows but for me, the audience reaction just added to the sheer pleasure of experiencing the show. I wish there was as much love and enthusiasm for many more shows. |

I too am okay with an audience enjoying a show but not too much. Their right to scream and cheer and whistle ends where my right to hear the show I've paid to see begins.

The audience when I saw Heathers was certainly loud and enthusiastic but were also probably one of the most mesmerised and respectful I have ever experienced. I was in rob B to the side and looked up quite a few times to see a bank of wide eyes and open mouths taking in every word, note and movement. Never once did the applause and cheering after each song affect the ongoing of the show, and there wasn't any inconsiderate or inappropriate behaviour from anyone, before during or after the show. The same can't be said from some more 'adult' audience members at other shows (Tina, Bat, Motown - even Hamilton) and I know which I would prefer to be part of.

I said to my friend that if I were in the show, I’d be loving it - but as an audience member it put me in a weird place of ‘oh am I watching a different show to these guys?’ It felt disingenuous - I felt like I was the only one laughing at the jokes but then at the end of each song there were screams like they had put up an ‘APPLAUSE’ sign. It felt rehearsed. I have nothing against people enjoying the show - it just didn’t feel as though they actually were... |

To be honest when I went the audience was fairly well behaved and not too loud, but there were a couple of people in my peripheral vision who kept freaking out and fanning themselves overdramatically whenever Jamie(/JD) would sing anything (as in, they'd fan themselves for the duration of the song). They were on the very end of a row only a few rows from the front and were mega visible, which was more than a bit distracting. And cringey. But I suppose in the grand scheme of things it wasn't really *that* bad, and I feel a bit mean judging people for enjoying something, but then again, there are ways of doing that without attracting everyone's attention every five minutes.

How dare someone that hasn’t trained be getting leads in A tours, or carrying borderline niche shows that wouldn’t get produced otherwise? It smacks of bitterness and sour grapes to me. At least she can sing and draw a crowd. Would it be sold out for the whole run with Charlotte Wakefield in the lead? Would Billy have even stumped up for it? Whether it’s right or wrong the answer is no. |
