This production has virtually sold out on the strength of the Heathers name, it scarcely needs reviews. Surely it's sold out on the strength of its star, rather than the 'Heathers' name?

It's no different to any other show charging roughly the same prices pre and post opening night though is it? Ish - but I think the price is only half of the argument the writer of that article is putting across. The price would be fine (I guess) if there *was* a pre and post opening night, but he's saying that there doesn't seem to be a "post opening" (though there is a Gala Night tonight, whatever that means), which he is saying implies that because apparently press may be invited at a later date or even a different venue, this run is not a finished product, the whole run is a set of "previews" and that this is just another glorified workshop, just a step-up from their previous workshop in The Other Palace Studio. So even though it's a fully realised production in terms of set, costumes, band, lighting, star casting, whatever, should they be charging top whack for what may be a glorified workshop because they know that fans of the musical and/or CHF will pay? I understand the frustration, though of course no one really knows if this is exactly the case apart from the producers!

I think also, the point still stands that £75 is a f***ing cheek for anything! (though the chance to become embroiled in twitter drama, as seems to have been happening to anyone who expresses a dislike, and be blocked by the star, is as ever...priceless)

Whatever the producers are thinking, calling Heathers a "work in progress" is grossly misleading - for reasons Boob has articulated above. The Other Palace has staged more than its share of works-in-progress musicals but this is not one of them.

Also....its not like they took a brand new musical into a workshop and rewrote loads in a year. Its not amazing to take a pre-existing musical/book/score and get it staged in a year is it?

Its not amazing to take a pre-existing musical/book/score and get it staged in a year is it? this is why it doesn't feel right that they are championing it as a brand new musical which has found success (ala Jamie), this show already had a built-in fanbase in the MT community, plus a built-in rabid fan base with their lead actress, PLUS a sold-out workshop preview run last year (fair enough their studio space is incredibly small but still they sold out in record time) Having said that, its always wonderful to see shows succeed and this has such positive buzz around it (for the most part) and that's never a bad thing! Despite some of the negative press (i.e when they announced it, this recent preview/not preview debacle)

Presumably the gala night gets potential investors in for tour or transfer and a few luvvies for pictures. Not having the critics in, given how few print critics we have left is an interesting choice. Do the target audience read newspaper reviews? Will having influencers (vomit) in instead give the coverage the show wants?
I don't know who is on the guestlist, but given the star can imagine a few from the social media world are invited.

Whatever my feelings on the ridiculous ticket prices, and the lack of critics being invited, in this video (aroun 12 minute mark) Carrie talks about what the show means to her, and other people. And it's quite lovely. This show isn't one I have any personal attachment to, but we've all had that show that just speaks to us at a given time. So it's quite heartwarming to see an actor talking about that. And acknowledging what it means to audiences/fans

Jodie Steele has been cast in the Rock of Ages tour, which starts in September so it seems like there’s a low probability, or at least not a concrete chance, that Heathers will transfer right now otherwise I would have thought she’d have chosen Heathers.

So I didn’t have £75 when these went on sale so spent £30 and booked A7. Am I going to be Steve? And what fresh hell am I going to be put through being Steve if so?
Thanks in advance, it sounds joyful otherwise 🙃

How many other works-in-progress performed at WE Live this year?

There has obviously been drama with Paul Taylor Mills and Heathers and RUG and The Other Palace. His social media (which he should stop) is very cryptic. He needs to realise he is a leading producer and not a heart on your sleeve theatre fan.

Have any of the songs had their key lowered for this production?

I've heard an audio from the first preview (or just first performance I suppose if this entire run is to be considered previews) and Dead Girl Walking sounds like the key was lowered

All of the joys danb - but could you tell me what to expect? I’m not great with situations like that, but if I know what’s gonna happen then I’m sure I’ll cope!

If you look at this video around the 8 min 17 second mark where she talks to "Steve" that is the extent of the audience participation (If you are chosen you will be "Steve").

Yikes. These women are well into their 30s. Why are they playing teenagers?

And why were they screeching like that?
The girl with the bumbag eating crisps was the best bit about that.
