See my post above. I cant' believe it hapenned twice. This is the first I heard of the conclusion eventually being staged, as we we advised by the staff to move away with haste. It was a Saturday night. We were told to evacuate the theatre and that the performance was abandoned but some of us hung around and after over half an hour were invited back in. Sad thing to consider, but its worth remembering we overcame those terrorists and we will overcome the next. As a point of fact, "we" (the UK Government?) didn't overcome the IRA. All parties engaged in a peace process.

Never been evacuated from Don Carlo but...
Was at the ROH performance of Esclarmonde by Massenet in December 1983. It was probably the ticket of the year with Joan Sutherland singing. About half way in the curtains descended and a DJd official asked us to leave the theatre because a suspected bomb had been discovered/reported. It was a freezing cold night and as we were all shivering on Floral Street out of the stage door came the cast, to rounds of applause, led by La Stupenda looking, frankly, really scary in her heavy stage make up. After about half an hour the performance was resumed without further hitch.
Two or three days later the IRA bombed the outside of Harrods.

I shan't lose any sleep tonight wondering if EVERYONE understood my point. Just to save everyone's time, all further comments from you will be ignored.
