Wait! Someone on another board has mentioned The Color Purple. Is this the show people are alluding to? not that exciting imo

If that is true, take my money now! With the prospect of both TCP and Finding Neverland coming over next year, I think I'm having a tiny Stage Doorgasm.

Did anyone actually see him in it? it all seems a bit odd that he barely did any performances on Broadway and now clearly is putting distance between him and it? Was he terrible? I know I've said I had no desire to see him in it because I just don't think he's right for the part...I do hope he finds the kind of role that does suit him he's a nice man and does have a lovely voice.

This makes me so happy. I wish him all the best in other roles, but this one is just not right for him.

Is it a quiet day for Baz or is this the first in a line of tweets where he tells us who isn't available for a show that may or may not run?
I usually scoff a little at people who generically state "I could do that job" but seriously, I can barely use my own mobile phone but I could do that job!

I am tempted to think that the producers are now going to go for the angle of "we were going to transfer it with Alfie, but now that he isn't available this is our excuse for not deciding to bring it over".

Poor Alfie they could have used a more flattering photo, I really HOPE this does run from the summer - Do we know what tempary show is going in or is the theater due a refurb when 'Jersey Boys' finishes?

I know right? His eyes look like he's just rolled in from a night out on the champagne cocktails with Miss Michael Ball.

Alfie in this would be worse than Carousel. Actually they are on par. While I have heard he is a nice guy he is really too operatic for many MT productions. He has no life in his acting. Alfie fans will go to see him in Carousel but for me he is as far from a Carnival Barker who attracts women as you can get. He did not get a following on Broadway for either LM or FN. I rather doubt he would be going back there anymore.

I agree he is too operatic for a number of roles but having seen him at the Les Miz 25th and in the role in the WE, he worked for me, so I feel it's a little too easy to dismiss him in MT parts. Personally I could see him in the Barrie role. As Billy...no. I've seen him in concert and he is no baritone. I dont really get the critism of his acting. He was spot on in the Mikado when I saw him in that at ENO. I would love to see Carousel but my ears object to KJ and I don't get musicals done in operatic voices. Er, why??!! There are lots of incredible MT voices out there, so I'm averse to listening to operatic warbling when it's musical theatre...wrong genre.

Whilst I think Alfie has a cracking pair or pipes on him he wouldn't for me have persuaded me to head to London to watch him in this. I saw a segment of him performing from the today show and it didn't wow me. Maybe as was so different to OBC recording. I do hope they still bring it over but not holding my breath on this one.

Anyone who thinks this will ever happen is a fool.
Theatres that can house musicals are too precious and no theatreowner will chose Neverland over something else. It's simply not a good show.
Plus another MUCH better show is in talks for the Piccadilly.

Didn't Cynthia Erivo say on twitter that a Color Purple transfer wasn't happening?
Hoping for a Waitress transfer at some point.
Sad for those who wanted to see this show but having seen it on Broadway myself I've got to agree that it's just not good (in my opinion anyway). Forgettable songs, strange plot (a lot less emotional than the film) and ugly sets. Still, maybe it will come over eventually.

Please don't tell me they're postponing it because of Alfie. If so, they're even more foolish than I thought.

And Waitress would be a major disappointment. Such a bland score, and the story doesn't seem to be anything special either.

The set BIG is currently touring with is not a set for just two venues, they obviously have firm west end plans
