I’m just hoping that someone like ITV pick it up- didn't they show Grease and Hairspray? Last night seems to have got pretty good reviews, so hopefully it’ll be shown over here fairly soon.

I've not seen the whole show but the Facebook group for it have posted about six full clips of songs. I really like John Legend for not for this part, he looks totally lost acting wise and isn't going for all the high notes (But commercially can see why they cast him)

Just watched some of them.Alice Cooper sounded ok but the performance was fairly lacklustre. As for the others, thought the choreography was nothing new and seen it all before.

Watched it live and thought it was absolutely fantastic! The final death sequence was particularly good.

The ensemble dancing in the title song looks a bit sloppy to my wholly untrained eye. They look knackered.

Watched Gethsemane. Ouch. John Legend seemed out of his depth there (with a *ridiculously* hard 5 minute song to sustain), but the rest of it looked pretty cool!!

Anyone found a way to watch this online yet? I've always found myself intensley relaxed about illegal piracy.

The venue looks well suited to this, although it really only echoes the setting of the Gale Edwards film. Could have done without the views of the audience... The band and orchestra sound in good shape; I can't see any brass section, unless they're hidden. (Was all the music actually live???) The choreography owes quite a bit to the Regents Park version, so all in all not wholly original. I do wish Herod's role wasn't given over to these old timers/'comic' turns. It's a great song, completely wasted. Again. Jesus... oh boy! "Show-stopping performance" of Gethsemane, says the caption on the Facebook page. It's almost a pity they couldn't have stopped the show and done a retake, although, let's be honest, he wouldn't have been able to make it even then... Woefully miscast. Great Judas and a very nice Mary. Oh, and I'm rather good. (Always good .)

I hope it's broadcast in the UK, because the production was incredible. The sets, the costumes, the ensemble. Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene and Brandon Victor Dixon as Judas especially. And this closing shot. On live TV. Wow.

Already a thread in international.
ITV have taken some previous NBC musicals but no word on any UK transmission yet.

Go follow Dreamgirls' Marisha Wallace on Instagram and see her reaction to this. She's hysterical! 😂

I was so, so happy to see this. Barely any complaints; John Legend clearly isn't an actor but this may not have happened without him, so I'm happy to compromise. And it's always good to see Norm Lewis on TV! Along with Jin Ha (Annas) and Abby Corrigan (ensemble and an amazing middle Alison in the Fun Home tour).

Currently halfway through watching this atm.
I can honestly say I am loving it- I can see how John Legend can be marmite, but personally, he's great. The standout so far for me though has to be Sara Bareilles is stunning as Mary.
The set works really well, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the 'concert' element/vibe is working. Band/Orchestra are sounding great also- would love to see this aired over here, I feel as though it's be a waste if someone didn't pick it up.
Another thing which I don't think I've seen any mentions of; I can't help but feel some elements are VERY similar to the regents park production!

THAT WAS AMAZING
what a complete waste if it doesn't get shown over here- the crucifixion was stunning!
Goodness, I wanna watch it over and over; did not think it would be as good as it was.

I’m not religious at all but am I the only one who finds this musical tasteless? I dunno, maybe it’s just because it’s a musical about torturing a man to death around 1985 years ago!

It's not the first musical about murder, and it won't be the last. The present-day group who are most invested in the story don't really mind the telling of the story about the torture and execution, 'cos it's very much the party line and the point, so it's not exploitative or anything. It's even debatable - and I say this as a Christian - as to what degree it's a true story or just a really well-known piece of fiction. I mean, if you find it tasteless, you find it tasteless, you're not wrong to feel the way you do about things. But if you're concerned about it being disrespectful to the man Himself or exploitative, the torture and execution part honestly isn't any different to what's read in sermons in churches across the globe and is very much a central aspect of the religion. (Though I guess there's room for debate as to how exploitative it is to constantly recount the story regardless of medium? I don't know that it's worth singling the musical out though, it's not like musicals as an art-form are inherently disrespectful and lacking in seriousness.) For what it's worth, I think some Christians did/do find it blasphemous for its focus on Jesus as a human and treating Judas with sympathy, and some Jews did/do find it entirely unsympathetic/anti-semitic in its portrayal of Jewish characters. But that's finding it tasteless for a different reason.

I've managed to watch it. Overall, I thought it was really good - strong cast, loved the staging - the end shot is stunning! The only weak link for me was John Legend. He has a great voice, but was let down by his acting. Everyone else was so strong that his weakness stood out.
