She's not technically reprising it, it's going to be a whole new production with a different director and cast. Interesting. Recasting isn't a surprise, but I wonder if the new director indicates the depth of her unhappiness with the Old Vic production? www.latimes.com/entertainment/arts/la-ca-cm-glenda-jackson-20180426-story.html - Glenda interviewed by Charles McNulty (but not available from within the UK at the moment, sadly)

Glenda is reprising this on Broadway, which is a shame cause I wanted them to bring over Three Tall Women Yes i was hoping TTW would come over. Oh well. It would be great if Sir Len brought Three Tall Women to the Haymarket for an Autumn run this year. It's dark for 16 weeks between 4th August and 24th November.

I thought the same. Amazing performance, shocker of a production at the Old Vic. Worst production of Lear I've ever seen! And the central performance didn't do anything for me - I think you needed to have a previous affection for Glenda to really connect to it, and I don't.

I liked it significantly more than other productions I've seen (I still regret not leaving Doran's snoozefest at the interval) but I can see why others might have hated it I guess.

Ha ha. Warner has been directing exactly like that for the past 40 years so you can hardly condemn it as "fashionable", "predictable" would have been a better description. However what certainly was fashionable about the production was having a female lead, but she doesn't mention that.

I thought Jackson was an amazing Lear but she seemed to be in a different production to everyone else.

Despite tepid reports on here, I've long wanted to see it and the Hampstead dates don't work for me unfortunately.

Ruth Wilson will play Cordelia and The Fool apparently. Getting their moneys worth I suppose.

Damn, this new casting sounds amazing.
I hated the OV production and didn't connect with Glenda at all, so the suggestion that she wants to do something quite different from that 'fashionable' approach is interesting. But I wasn't keen on Sam Gold's Hamlet last year, either.
Broadway is such an expensive trip, and so far nothing announced for spring has quite convinced me that I *need* to go. But it's starting to look a little bit tempting....
