Nope. That's the DVD I already posted earlier in this thread. Blu Ray is nowhere to be seen as of now.

Fantastic news!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing. And only 11 months after the original broadcast.....!! Wonder if there's a particular reason for this? I'd be more surprise if it was announced for longer than 12 months. I'm pretty sure there have been other releases that have waited about this time, but certainly no longer. The IT Crowd Final Special was broadcast in October 2013, but wasn't released until November 2015! And as a huge fan of the show and DVD collector with mild OCD, I'm still waiting for them to release the full box set (including the final special)! This year would've been perfect with it being the 10th anniversary! Sorry...enough about IT Crowd...back to Gypsy...

I purposely hadn't watched Gypsy in such a long time so when the time came to see it again, it would be like watching it for the first time again. And OH MY GOD. I had forgotten how totally mesmerising this production was from the very first up-beat of the orchestra to the final down-beat of the conductor. 2 hours & 15 just flew by and I am so grateful for BBC4 for repeating it. Lots of more positive reports from twitter (searching the #Gypsy hashtag). Really not seen any performance in a musical like Imelda before or since.
Now the only thing is, BBC4: Please sir, may we have some more??

So Adele has said she wants to play Mama Rose 'when she's 50'. Firmly added to my wish list! Do we think she could do it? Can she act at all?

Even if she can't, she's got about 20 years to get a couple of lessons in. I must say though, there is something just slightly pant-wettingly thrilling about imagining *that* voice belting out "I had a dreeeeeeeam, a dream abut youuuuuu baby . . "

Adele's voice is so ridiculously affected though. It was ages before I worked out she wasn't singing about Mr Rumbold in Skyfall.

She might have to work her way up before playing the most demanding role in musical theatre. I suggest 4th understudy midwife in Wicked would be a good start 😬

As this thread is reviving itself, does anyone want a programme? I impulse bought 2 on the last night and I already had one anyway at home.

Are the BBC 'recording' any other shows this year? I doubt it... Peter Pan Goes Wrong? Although, apparently it's being filmed at Pinewood Studies and features David Suchet as a narrator so it could be quite different than the stage show.
