Hi everyone
Can someone give me notes on what direction to head for the American bar please! We are going Saturday for the first time after Madame Butterfly and I don't want to be wandering around like I have just wandered in off the street for a warm !

I assume you know it's in the Strand. The entrance road to the Savoy Hotel is the same as to the Savoy Theatre (look out for the sign for Dreamgirls in the Strand). Go past the theatre entrance into the foyer of the hotel. Turn left, up a few stairs, then wait to be seated! As for looking like you've wandered in off the street, you'll be surprised how many people do just that, complete with shopping. Enjoy!

It can get absolutely packed in the American Bar, especially just before a show starts in the Savoy Theatre: hope you manage to nab a table/seat.

Let us know how busy it is. Presumably you will get there after 10.30 pm on Saturday after Butterfly, so curious to know what it is like then. Have a great time!!

Ooh, I love the American bar, but for some reasons my ex-better half thought it was the best place to tell me I was his better third.
I haven't been ever since.

I just looked at the cocktail menu for the American bar - it was the least American thing in the world. I was expecting Hemingway Daiquiris and Tennessee Williams mint juleps but it's very London! (But sounds lovely.)
CoudIleaveyou - how dare your ex ruin a bar for you. Make sure next break up takes place in a Gregg's. ;-)

I say let's all take you out for cocktails there and make better memories!!
(HATE that when an ex ruins a place. Goes also for former friends)

What did you think of Butterfly? I was there tonight and really enjoyed it. It wasn't the most subtle performance but it did carry quite an emotional punch.

Sadly, we didn't get into the American bar, some friends met us after the show and with it being 23:00 they could not accommodate us until just before closing time.....BUT going in there still cost me money....as on the way back down the stairs I clocked eyes on the letter from Bette Davis and was in awe....SO me being me, and being fairly squiffy decided to get on ebay and buy her signature.
My other half was NOT impressed!
