Took advantage of that today. If you're thinking of trying this, the best tip sit on your phone at 09:59 on the date selection page and when it hits exactly 10:00 tap the "day seats" option, even if it hasn't changed. This loads you in a second or two ahead of the rest. Got central front row seats for the described £25. I'd never seen the show before, and was a bit underwhelmed, for the same reasons everyone else has described in the last several pages. Just a really unmemorable and ineffective book and score, with some pretty sets and some really promising child actors. The elevator was fantastically disappointing. I'd rather that "Pure Imagination" had played in the Chocolate room scene where it would have resonated more and we might have focused on the song. Instead I spent the whole thing staring at the scissor lift as it trundled slowly to stage left and slowly to stage right again. Not what I'd hoped for.

I wish the elevator was as spectacular as it used to be, it used to fly out over the audience in the stalls.
Other than that, how was the view? Is front row worth it?

I'm somewhat surpised we haven't yet heard of what is taking over the theatre following this. If this is to close in January as assumed, then surely we will hear something very soon regarding what will take over in time to open booking, get some promo out there etc? I remember a while back someone saying a touring show will go in. With this mindset, I would guess a family show ala Chitty or Mary Poppins. Currently, Chitty is touring until February 2017 and Mary is touring until January 2017 so I can picture one of those two coming in for a 6 month run or something?

Yes I totally agree, I too am very surprised that this hasn't been announced yet as Charlie announced its closure ages ago and they need to sort out promo, tickets etc. Where did you hear it was a tour? I would love Mary Poppins to come back for 6 month run and give me the chance to see it but I think they would recast the two leads. I think Mary Poppins is more likely than Chitty as Chitty is touring lots of venues whereas Mary only went to a few across the country. If they were only 6 month runs, what would replace them? It's risky to put a new musical in a theatre that huge. I don't want FN to go there as I don't think it would stay open that long, Mary has a better chance because it attracts more people I think

Charlie will also need a long get-out period, and any show going in, I presume would need a fairly lengthy get-in period. The earliest any show could open is late March/early April 2017.

I was just curious people, I realise it is 7 months away haha! But the likes of American in Paris and The Girls for example announced a while back or just recently they don't open until the beginning of next year so I assumed Drury Lane would follow suit.

Once again, I am judging this new touring production of Chitty and I haven't seen it. But from what I have seen online, I would be very surprised if it came to Drury Lane, it would look too small and not like West End quality at all.
IF it is Mary Poppins going into Drury Lane after Charlie has had its get-out, which could possibly open March/April or May even, then I imagine it could go on sale around this October. I'm just thinking back to while Shrek was announced when Oliver! was finishing, and then when Charlie had swapped the Palladium for Drury Lane while Shrek was finishing.

Saw this tonight. Overall stil really like the show but I really can't understand what half of the kids are saying. It's too over the top so it rattles by and during the TV bits especially I find it really hard to hear. Does anyone else think the same or am I going mad?

I think this could be a fairly good idea for Drury Lane maybe:
A UK tour (Mary Poppins) comes in to replace Charlie in around April 2017 and is advertised as say a 6-8 month run. After this is up, the Broadway transfer of The King & I could possibly come here? If it needs a huge theatre, then this seems ideal?

I can't believe in 10 days time this will be celebrating its three year anniversary! I really enjoy the show when I have seen it, so I am glad it has had a good run, and with at least 7 months left to go, it is a great run that wasn't initially expected with the reviews on the score and story issues.

The new song "Queen of Pop" sung by Violet was performed the other day at West End Live (along with Jonathan Slinger and Charlie singing Pure Imagination)

It's OK, it does the job of introducing her and gives the actress a chance to show off a bit vocally.

What a wasted opportunity. I hear it is being completely re-conceived for Broadway.
