The only problem i see with her casting is that she's too old. She can sing and dance and nobody's seen her really act before, so i dont see why its such a big problem.
If Kenwright really wanted her that badly, she should have been Mrs J in the new blood brothers tour. Its time Lynn Paul stopped playing Mrs J.

I would agree with oxfordsimon above, however, the show is almost sold out for its week in December at the Brighton Theatre Royal where very little sells out these days. The prices are top dollar too - £58 top price and £65 premiums!! I assume it is Mrs Redknapp that is responsible for this - surely not Will Young. Oh in Brighton, its definitely a scantily clad Will who's selling all those tickets.

Yes remember seeing Will the last time he did Cabaret. He was very good as the Emcee. Will be interesting to see how Louise shapes up.

Opening night was last night Louise has been getting good reviews for her dancing and decent reviews for her singing and acting. I go tomorrow so I will post my opinion then.

Mmmm... "good" and "decent" aren't convincing me I should go somehow. The only 'reviews' I could find after Googling were the Sun and the Mirror, and both seemed more interested in "S and M style suspenders" (I'm assuming they weren't M and S) and her husband's absence from the performance.

Saw it this afternoon Louise singing is great and her acting is fine. Will Young is the star of the show through, he was fantastic.

Great review of Louise in the Daily Express of all places today.

Wills been getting great reviews, jury is still out till I see it for myself. The tabloids show themselves up for their false values. The Daily Mail was full of photos of Louise in her costumes inviting rotten comments.

When I last saw this production with Miss Young and the girl from EastEnders, I noticed that the focus of the story, was carefully shifted more to that of Cliff, and of course The Emcee. It was subtley done, but Sally appeared just a bit more subordinate to proceedings.

Well, we know Will is a bit(!) of a diva, perhaps he insisted on it.

Obviously Will Young was in it and Matt Rawle was Cliff. Sian Phillips was in it too. Bring back Anna Maxwell Martin, she was glorious I thought.

It was an updated version of the Anna Maxwell Martin one. Some very good refinements and a few scenes were totally different.
MICHELLE RYAN - that was her!!

Cabaret the musical UK tour in Wimbledon.
Amazing ensemble, super production, great cast, amazing band, good supporting roles, inventive set, powerful messages.
Completely ruined by an ex pop singer playing Sally Bowles who could not act, had no journey, pace, understanding of the role and just said the words and waved her arms.
It’s a tragedy that Louise Rednap is on stage with such talent.

It is a very very very big problem. She can’t act at all. Think the worst ever then times by ten. She ruins what is a good show. We all know kenwright cares more about box office than quality.

I am almost never team "actresses who can sing" (as opposed to singers who can act) but here I utterly was. She was perfect! Seen her loads on telly; but has she done any musicals since?

Do people really book to see a show just because that woman who was essentially the backing singing in Eternal was in it?

Do people really book to see a show just because that woman who was essentially the backing singing in Eternal was in it? I'm afraid the answer to this is yes. The tour is very well sold at high prices. Plus of course she was on Strictly last year which (like Danny Mac) increased her profile.

I dont think Anna Maxwell-Martin is an actress who can sing. Actress, yes....
She made my ears bleed. I know Sally isn't meant to be a good singer but her Sally was beyond terrible. Her and Jane Horrocks should never be in a musical again.

Do people really book to see a show just because that woman who was essentially the backing singing in Eternal was in it? She got this role not because of Eternal but because she came second in Strictly two years ago. That’s why. Good for her, but she’s not up for the role.
