There's thecillashow.com already doing the rounds to smaller venues. I have not seen it but would be funny to have both on tour at the same time and similar area.

This has zero appeal for me. I presume it will use her own songs? Who will this appeal to, people who like the Dreamcoats and petticoats tours??
Yes she was very successful but wheres the story? She came from Liverpool, sang with the Beatles, had a few songs in the charts and hosted Blind Date... yay. Lets make that into a musical!

Baz then tweeted it is based on the Sheridan Smith TV drama, so maybe people who watched and enjoyed that? And that only had about 3 songs in it. Does that now mean we get an onslaught of folks saying that Sheridan should star in this next?

They are auditioning "nationwide" according to the website for someone to play Cilla. Zero appeal for me too.

Once upon a time when I was doing an office job with wayyyy too little manager supervision, me and this girl called Debbie would while away the afternoon ringing up trendy record shops and asking if the had Cilla's Surprise Surpise on 12" coloured vinyl extended remix.theyd go away for ages looking things up then come back saying things like "have you tried Woolworths?" Lol.

Maybe the first time ever where the 'star' of the 'biography' show has a better voice than the original? I was never a big fan of Cilla's singing but I have very fond memories of watching her TV shows- way before Surprise Surprise and Blind Date, where she would just sing and then introduce her weekly guests. I remember she'd always cry when it got to the last episode of each series! When she died I was shocked. It felt like yet another personality you'd 'grown up with' had gone, so I bought her Very Best Of Cilla CD in Tescos along with the weekly shop. I was just amazed at how versatile her voice was... great belt, tender (almost childlike) emotion, and showing great versatility with an incredibly wide repetoire of songs. It's a CD worth listening to.

I know this should be on another thread but
I once travelled back from Paris with her and Cliff Richard. They were sitting at the front of the train.
Liked her on Blind Date.

So what's this show about? I loved cilla especially Blind date and surprise surprise back in the 80's Its about her early years, pre-Blind Date. Focus on her break into the music industry and marriage to Bobby. Adapted from the three-part drama of the same name from ITV.

I think the ITV programme ended when she got her 1st number one (may be wrong) so will be interesting how they include her songs.

I think the ITV programme ended when she got her 1st number one (may be wrong) so will be interesting how they include her songs. It ended with Brian Epstein's death, and Cilla securing her first TV contract (thanks to Epstein), so after she'd had most of her biggest chart hits.

I remembered an episode ending with Cilla and Bobby in the phone box where they made a call and she was told she was number one and thought that was it.

Apparently it will feature a scene where Cilla and Dale Winton romp around on the set of Supermarket Sweep after hours, both blotto on Moet... Cilla is in the wheelie, while Dale attempts to navigate his way around the aisles, desperately trying to avoid huge stacked up piles of cheap baked beans. All this will be done to 'Something Tells Me Something's Gonna Happen Tonight'.
