Amber is singing on The Graham Norton show on the 7th Oct, and apparently she's doing 'And I Am Telling You...' Are they really going to let the big number be seen before the show itself? I'm surprised by that. I guess she's just going to stand and sing it cabaret style rather than it be the section lifted from the show. Plus, they don't really have many other numbers they could use (that the average person would know) to promote it do they?

Have any offers emerged for this yet? There's a single stalls ticket on offer in the Noticeboard section, unless someone's nabbed it. He was looking for offers.

If she does do And I Am.... it could go either way. If it's not great it could really sway people into not buying a ticker. It's a big risk.

Her rendition shouldn't be a big ol' surprise. She already sings it on Glee. It's all over YouTube and there's a recording of it. I think she'll be fabulous. Ever since I saw her in Glee (hated Glee, btw) I wanted her to be Dorothy in the Wiz. Oddly enough she was cast in The Wiz but not as Dorothy. I'm a bit turned off that the big girl can only be cast as "the quirky one" or the actual big girl in Dreamgirls, BUT..I'm glad she's getting a big juicy starring role in a live musical. The girl is very talented and likable.

Apart from Gleeks, the rest of the world would barely have heard of her, let alone hunt down the song on youtube.

Couldn't that be said to just about anyone performing anything? Not that I'm accusing anyone of anything, but I'm sensing that she's almost set up to fail before she even starts. Worse case scenario is that her version will be generic and maybe bland? We know she can sing and vocally that role will be the biggest "big sing" role in the WE.

I'm guessing that of all of the numbers in the show, 'And I Am Telling You . . ' is the one she's really been practising. I imagine she's going to do just fine.

Amber responded to a fan on twitter saying she'll be in Dreeamgirls for a year which means she'll be there until November 2017.

Miss Riley has arrived in London. Yes, I know she's on Graham Norton this week, but she was at the next table to me last night in a Covent Garden restaurant...

She's been there for a while, she went to see Funny Girl at the Savoy with the girl who'll play Deena. Shouldn't they be starting rehearsals very very soon?

Never been to previews before. Will it change vastly from when the show goes "live" so to speak.. Going on 1st December hoping this will be a good show.

Never been to previews before. Will it change vastly from when the show goes "live" so to speak.. Going on 1st December hoping this will be a good show. Welcome to the board, Colin! Previews essentially give everyone time to tweak the show, play around with things a bit and see how the audience responds (both in terms of reaction on the night but I've known them do surveys of some audience members before, too), and try to make sure it's as tight as possible for press night and the critics. In this case, I doubt it'll change a great deal. For a new musical, they may even cut songs, insert songs, change the order of scenes and change dialogue to some extent in previews, but that's because the musical itself will not have been done before. This musical is tried-and-tested and comes with a set book/dialogue/order etc. which has been worked on for years before this point and very honed, so it'll more be a matter of everyone settling into the performance, working out costume/scene change issues, and maybe a change of costume/wig/lighting/emphasis here or there, but nothing too dramatic. Having said that, you never know and late changes can be made to well-known pieces, but I seriously doubt it in this case. I've been to a fair number of previews, and in general I wouldn't have known they were pre-press night performances if I hadn't already known. They are still selling expensive tickets to a show, so they know you expect to see something pretty much there or thereabouts and worth the money. There can be a real buzz around previews as the audience knows they are among the first to see something, and the actors are very fresh, so they can be wonderful to attend. I hope you have a great night and report back to all of us on how it's looking!
