A continuation of the speculation! Pretty sure there's no thread - please merge if there is!
Baz has some news tonight, apparently...

Sure will be interesting his late and great colleague Jack Tinker absolutely loathed that show, he couldn't understand why the butcher 'Frank Rich' loved that show and slaughtered Blood Brothers and 5 guys named Moe.

Well she certainly has a set of pipes on her - that is for sure. I suspect she will put a lot of bums on seats

She has a great voice so don't be put off. I think she suits the part really well actually. Sang many a Dreamgirls song in Glee as well.

OK. Very excited. Would have loved a great British actress to play the part but have loved Amber Riley in Glee and she really can sing. Booking apparently opens March....

So now just the speculation over Deena.....
Rachel John. For all the roles. Even the male ones and also orchestra.
Beverly Knight alternate when she finished The Bodyguard and also lighting designer.

Deena and Curtis are likely to be names as well I assume? Amber Riley is a good choice for Effie.

Just woke up and saw Wilma's Facebook post about all the theatre news overnight. Really happy with the Dreamgirls news. Amber Riley can definitely sing the role (though not heard her live, only tv recordings, but I doubt she'll fail to impress on the vocals). Hopefully Alexandra won't do a Marcus and renege on her holy duties to become Deena. I can't wait to see who else is in the cast, but this could really be a chance for Rachel John to shine further if she's Deena. Maybe Alexia Khadime? I don't know what she's doing come November. My mum has loved Dreamgirls for years, so that's her birthday present sorted . Now, off to work I go.

Would have loved the legendary Michael Bennett staging to have come over. Glad 'Dreamgirls' will finally arrive, but it won't have that electric innovation felt in 1981 that modern musical theatre had finally arrived.

This is something I'm actually looking forward to (not fussed about the West End return of Bodyguard). Amber Riley seems a good choice for Effie.
