I don't know why they couldn't bump one of the covers up? I think it's a bit much that the London production of Dreamgirls has so many American performers in it. Especially with all three dreams being American. Why not give some British performers a chance. It's the same with BOM where it's always American performers in the 3 main roles.

You can tell poor Karen now being the only regular British Dream is thinking "bitch you better bring it everytime you go on, you don't wanna be replaced by an American!".

I love Asmeret Ghebremichael!
Let's not assume Ibanabo has been given the ax. Maybe she has something good lined up for her and requested to terminate her contract.
Looks like Casey is bringing in all his gang from the US.
When is Asmeret taking over?

I love how shady Dreamgirls are, to just remove people off the cast page without even offically announcing it themselves.

Ahh Asmeret Ghebremichael was great in Mormon, she should be fab in this!
Hasn't Ibinabo been off a lot - as much as, if not more than, Amber? The Lorell covers have certainly been on a lot. If she's not recovering from whatever it is that's keeping her from performing then maybe this was for her own health - taking a break in order to recover rather than carrying on trying to perform but not getting better. All speculation of course, but she's a fantastic performer so whatever the reasons lets hope she'll be back on the stage again soon!

I agree. Unless she has a better opportunity somewhere else, this sounds like departure for personal reasons, and I hope it's not health related. Her performance was fantastic. At least she gets to be on the cast recording.
And I agree with Daniel, it's pretty shady that there's no news release about this. It seems that their communication and coordination efforts are quite sub-par. Must be a Sonia Friedman thing, following the drama with Funny Girl last year.

If you look at Asmeret's tweets, she didn't even hint she was in the show (as far as I can tell). I'm guessing she was asked not to. Wow!
I didn't even know until I saw this (and then came to the board).

Couldn't they give the role full time to either Jocasta, Candace or Carly who have been playing the role just fine in Ibinabo's absence? I hate it how they don't announce when a new cast member is taking over

They are clearly acting Dreamgirls onstage nightly and living it off stage too. There is clearly more drama off stage than on. Perhaps someone will write a musical about it...art imitating life imitating art!

Wow. Ok, so here's what went down. Ibinabo is BFF's with Ruth and since Sonia F did her boo wrong Ibi has been bad mouthing her all around town. SF got wind of Ibi disrespectin' her ass and called her in to tell her who da boss around here. Ibi don't take no sass from no-one, especially some jumped up lady producer, and gives it to SF with both guns about how she treated Ruth so so bad. "She was nearly ready! She HAD this, ok?" "Never forget Ibinabo" says Sonia "there's only one QUEEEN around here and it ain't Amber, it ain't Marisha and it certainly ain't you. Now get yo' ass back on that stage girl, we got money to make!" Ibi spins round and struts out of the office like she's slaying a Paris runway, slamming the door behind her. Sonia picks up the phone and barks to some unseen lacky "get me Asmeret Ghebremichael.... NOW!" .... well that's how it happened in my head anyway

Great...you've got the job of writing the book of the show "The Bad Dream Girls - The Musical". Music by Gary Barlow. Now for casting - Glen Close as Sonia Friedman?

I'm finally going to see Dreamgirls tonight. Any idea who I will see in it as the cast seems to change nightly Considering Rodney Vubya just tweeted to Asmeret about her performance tonight, I think it's a fair guess to say you'll be seeing her.

Finally got.to see Dreamgirls tonight after winning the lottery. Sat right behind the MD which I found facinating and ended up watching him nearly as much as the show. The lottery is fantastic value for money but the stage is soooo high. Could really only see when the cast were upstage. When anyone was downstage I could only see them from waist up. But when they were close they were real close. As for the show I enjoyed it but was not blown away. Great cast who work hard and Amber Riley is exceptional. Loved the staging and simple but effective sets. But the book is very lightweight and apart from about 4 standout songs the rest are very forgetable. As I expected people clapping and cheering mid song which always annoys me as you can't hear parts of the song. From what I could see full standing ovation for the 3 leads.

The recasting news makes me sad - Ibinabo was a fabulous Lorrell! Hopefully this is just to allow her to recover from whatever's kept her off stage for the past few weeks, and I wish her well.
I do wish they'd just promoted one of the understudies, there really wasn't any need to get another American actress in instead, however good she may be. But I guess Sonia Friedman has more than one eye on Broadway by now...

Is this West End Lounge new? I follow them on Instagram but there's absolutely nothing on that account.
PS-She's cute and fabulous. I booked a Monday ticket for May, I hope it's her.

Blimey, she's good! It always impresses me when someone can sing like that and make it seem so effortless.
