They surely can't just drop her out of work like that when people enjoyed her performances?! This is live theatre, after all..! Rehearsal Reshmershal! Marisha came over, stepped off the plane into a crystal gown and performed. How much time does this Ruth character need? ... and before people criticise Burly's point, yes she had done the role before, but she still had to pick up all the changes, the new lyrics and music, a different size orchestra, new cast, new costumes, new staging... everything different! Ya either got it or ya ain't! What I'm taking from this is that Marisha was flown in as a temporary alt / lead - a bit like they keep getting ex-Elphabas into Wicked as emergency cover. She literally JUST did the show so had her songs and characterisation all good to go so it was a case of learning the blocking.

during Lorrel and Jimmys number i could barely make out a word that Candace (on as lorell and btw i think would make a very strong Effie is she ever went on) was actually saying/singing. But she has an great voice so i wasn't that fussed. It sounded good even if i didn't know what was being sung! She was fantastic in her more comedic role. Haha, I did think this also a bit but because Lorrell had been so well-established as a character already it didn't make quite the same impact as missing a character's first scene. Could've just been where I was sat, as I say - right at the back. Which reminds me.. for bargain hunters, TKTS had the back of stalls for £21. I picked a random Wednesday matinee online and they were definitely higher priced than that. They also had a handful of mid stalls on discount.

Marisha has said on Twitter she is not just a temp, she will be here for a while. So no saying goodbye to her or her Effie just yet people (thank god!)

Hi there! I'll be visiting London in a couple of weeks and just wanted to see if Amber had a set schedule. I know people can be out of shows at any given time like she was recently, but I'd like to know if she does Wednesday nights usually and both shows Saturday. I'm trying to plan in advance so I can see as many shows as I can.
Also, what is the best option for cheaper tickets for this particular show? TKTS, Todays Tix or another suggestion? Thanks!

Up until the start of February, she doesn't do Wednesday evenings. From the beginning of February, she will not do Monday evenings but will do the Wednesday evenings instead. She has no scheduled holidays at the moment so assume that other than these days, for the time being, she will be on. This show is tough to get cheaper tickets until after March unless you keep looking st the ATG website, something may come up that is cheaper. Enter the TodayTix lottery whilst you are here! It took myself and a friend a month or so of trying for us to win even one ticket so it isn't a sure thing, but an amazing feeling and experience if it does happen.

"...right from the start, and I warned you Effie, that man would break your heart, that man would break your heaaaart!!"
So many great lines in the show.
Any get stuck in your head? Or is it just me??

Best option for cheap tickets is the official website...if performances aren't full the prices have been dropping (off peak performances) Monday I paid £39.50 for seat that is usually £59.50 and a friend got front row of the Upper for £20. Just keep an eye on the ATG website from a few days before if a performance isn't looking full

Unfortunately I only have a number of slots and don't want to rely to much on a lottery. So Amber is scheduled for Wednesday matinees but not evening? That might be the only slot I have available.

Yes, so dependant on what week you are coming (assuming it is before February) you will have either Marisha (next week) or Karen (January 25th), if the alternate schedule plays out how it should. But as I say, from February, it will be Mondwy evenings that Amber has off, with the apparent addition of Ruth so there will be three ladies alternating/standby/understudying/no one really knows... the role.

It's always so maddening, especially since above the title refunds aren't granted in the West End. I'm sure the stand bys and alternates are amazing and are liked more but if I'm only in town a few days and I'm seeing a show based on a star and their reviews, it's disappointing to not see them since they're the reason you're there, ya know? lol
I'll keep an eye out for Wed matinee prices on the 25th then. Thanks!

In fairness Amber isn't above the title (as previously discussed) but your point is certainly valid - hope you manage to get a ticket

I can't wait for this to settle so that there's a cast recording announced. Any word on that front? There are several coming from Broadway but London is pretty dry with upcoming recordings.

Can anyone help me out as i have an incredibly bad memory. Does the show end with the 4 dreams or the original 3? I remember that the show ends with like a silhouette of the dreams doesn't it? And i only picture three when i remember that but i know that that whole final number started with Michelle there, so what does she just slip off at some point?

All four of them are present at the end, in the Dreamgirls (Reprise). But they stand in their original order of Deena in the middle, Lorrell on the left (to the audience) and then Effie to the right, with Michelle next to Effie. But at the Curtain Call, Lily bows alone, the first of the main cast to bow, then all the men, and then the main three Dreams. First Lorrell, then Deena, then obviously Effie.

So even at the very end of that song and blackout it's the four and not just the original three dreams? When i picture the moment i just see three of them there standing in a pose dimly lit before it goes black. I must have a wrong image in my head lol Also anyway i think that would be better. I would like the show to end with the three originals, as it started.

If I remember rightly (please someone correct me if I am wrong) the moment of them in pose happens at the start of the last scene, but it happens with the new trio, not including Effie. I remember thst the very last image in the show is the four girls, with the female and male ensemble members surrounding them, the females dressed in outfits from throughout their career and journey.

Unless it was just a lighting fault the Dreams were definitely lit for a couple of seconds before the full blackout.

Yes, I did think that finale montage was lovely, with the female ensemble representing the various era of the group... nice touch.

Well. That's quite a show isn't it?
Absolutely brilliant, with the second act in particular completely NAILING it. It works soooo much better on stage than on film doesn't it?
Favourite moment... that moment in I Am Changing. OMG. And that crystal curtain was EVERYTHING.
It was just fabulous.

Saw this the other day.
A lot of people where raving about this before it opened especially the younger brethren on here, I just put it down to the Glee factor with Amber Riley than the piece. So really had little interest in seeing this, but did as I had a mild curiosity as love anything theatre so saw this with the greatest trepidation and absolutely loved it.
I cannot open stop play the cast recording since seeing this on Wednesday, the last time I recall not looking forward to something and absolutely loving it and that is Sister Act at the London Palladium and Ghost at the Piccadilly.
