What with Sheridan and now Amber - the Savoy Theatre is certainly keeping this thread alive! Will she/won't she appear will run and run.......

Also does anyone know the running time, can't find it anywhere on the official site and my train back up north is 6pm. It's usually fine but would like peace of mind. 2h20min including a 20min interval according to the programme. Thanks for that, that's quite short actually, will give me plenty of time. Now just got to hope for Amber!! Thanks again.

2h20min including a 20min interval according to the programme. On the ATG website it says 2h40min including interval but I could be wrong. The wording in the programme is "Running time is approximately 2h20min with a 20min interval.", which reads to me as if the interval were included in the 2h20min. I did see the show yesterday. According to my Oyster online account, I touched in at Embankment tube station at 10.08pm, so taking the slightly delayed start, time to get out of the theatre and the walking time into account, 2h20min seems about right.

It was exactly 2h30 when I went but that included Karen replacing Amber

Thanks for the input everybody, at the latest it should be done by 5.10 then, which gives plenty of time to get to the station, just hoping for amber!

I did see the show yesterday. A few random thoughts:
Why is the cast list hidden so well between mostly ATG ads on the TV screens in the foyer? Only accidentally happened to see it there.
The auditorium was terribly cold.
The programme is actually quite nice but £8 are a bit pricey.
The audience was awful. Mid-song screaming and cheering and shouting - what's wrong with people?
Karen Mav was on as Effie, and she was quite good actually.
What did I forget? Oh yes, the show itself. It's a bit meh I'm afraid. Neither particularly bad nor particularly good. Samey and forgettable score - I only like the disco/upbeat version of One Night Only. Book is a bit random and I really didn't like the happy ending. Costumes were, however, gorgeous. All in all, been there done that, unless someone I'll desperately want to see is cast I won't be returning.

Hi all, If you are successful for the lottery what time are you usually told? Thanks. I've won twice and both times I found out four hours before the performance.

Marisha Wallace will be playing Effie on Jan 4th (Amber's day off). Ruth seems to just have been left out a bit. All seems a bit over the place if you ask me but I'm glad the show is still great

Look forward to your review of Marisha's performance. Presumably her first?

Marisha is on? I've never entered ticket lottery so fast in my life. I absolutely love her and I'm so excited to hopefully catch her as Effie!

When will Amber return?! She's been off for ages now...
I know some people going on NYE (Sat) and I really hope they get to see Amber? What's the chances?

It's interval and at first I was devastated to not get Amber, but I honestly cant see her doing any better than Marisha just did, girl knocked it out of the park!! If anyone is going don't worry about not getting Amber, if Marishas on that is. Amazing.

Surely it's clear now that Ruth has been dropped?
As for the absences of Amber and other cast members, interval switches and new alternates being employed a month into the run, are the producers going to pass comment on this or just pretend this entire thing isn't starting to look like a bit of a farce? Leaving the cast to tweet things like "we are only human" is not the way to manage the paying customers expectations. Sonia Friedman seems to have a real problem in this department. Whoever is advising her wants shooting.

Whoever is advising her wants shooting. I agree with you that they need to make a statement on this soon. They need to tell us about Amber but also whether she's going to be missing more than just one performance a week etc and also about the other cast members too - are Ibinabo and Liisi back yet?? They also need to tell us what alternate performs at what show because at the moment everyone is very confused.
I don't think Ruth has been dropped? She's still on the cast website and her Twitter still talks about Dreamgirls. They do need to comment though if Amber isn't back by say tomorrow.
Poor girl, the role is so demanding. Just give her Monday and Wednesday evening off, for example, and let the alternates both play one show a week. Just make sure people know in advance.

Marisha is already on the website. On youtube there is a video of her singing AIATY from a production in Dallas where she played Effie. She is amazing (though I'd be interested to see if she reads too old). I would be gutted not to see Amber but I will say Marisha has the chops. To spend the money to bring her to London - it seems that she will be the first alternate to go on..

It's reassuring we have a new show with offstage drama, following Sunset Boulevard and Funny Girl. In all seriousness though, I do really feel for some of these performers.
