Would it do a London venue like wimbledon or Woking?

Would it do a London venue like wimbledon or Woking? Both Sunny Afternoon and Beautiful did Wimbledon so it's possible

I've heard as far as September 2020 is when the tour will kick off, so alot of dates will have to be added before then if it is to start in 2019 instead.

So far, these are the places that spring to mind in terms of getting Dreamgirls.
Leicester Curve? It could start there? Plymouth Theatre Royal Norwich Theatre Royal Bradford Alhambra Theatre Southampton Mayflower Theatre Birmingham Hippodrome Bristol Hippodrome Cardiff WMC Liverpool Empire Manchester Palace or Opera House Sunderland Empire or Newcastle Theatre Royal (or both?) Glasgow King's or Theatre Royal? Aberdeen His Majesty's? Edinburgh Playhouse or Festival Theatre Dublin Bord Gais Belfast Opera House? Or maybe it could do the Waterfront? Or maybe Dublin is enough?

Heard at west end live Cardiff have Dreamgirls next year it's probably our Christmas show. I see it opening in Cardiff and finishing in 2021

I don't know any insider gossip regarding that, but from what I've heard from others, it appears at the moment to be dead in the water. But I'll be intrigued to see if it does happen and, moreover, if it happens with Amber.

I’m pretty sure Amber is finished with this show...can’t see her reviving the part at all

I think it should be Karen Mav for the tour lead, but I dunno if it'll have 3 Effies. I haven't actually seen Dreamgirls, but is Effie White seriously that demanding that it needs 3 principal actresses and at least 1 understudy?

It should really only have one lead and a standby, with two understudies. If Imelda can do Rose eight times a week with only understudies, so should Effie. The only reason there are three leads is because alot of people complained when Amber was off sick, so having three, no one could complain the lead was off because at least one of the three leads would always be on (which still hasn't turned out to be the case).

London doesn't need the three leads along with an understudy and there's no way I can see the tour heading out with that. If they've got any sense they'll reverse it back to the 'normal/standard' way and just have the lead and understudies on tour with the potential of a standby as well

I seriously doubt we will see Marisha or Moya, or any of the American cast do it on tour as dates aren't pencilled in for another two years so by then I imagine they will go back to Broadway rather than await the tour.

The only person I can personally see potentially doing the tour from the current cast in Karen. Given the fact the tour won't start for quite a while I can't see many holding off from taking other jobs just to tour with this later on

One thing that's for sure, Samira Mighty definitely won't be in the tour cast, but I'd imagine that SFP will offer another contract to some ensemble members and swings. (just not Samira for obvious reasons)

I don't think we will see Samira in a show for a while, you piss off Sonia you're screwed.

Until she wins 'Love Island' and Sonia sees dollar signs for all the money she could make from casting her . . .

Once she’s done with Love Island, she’ll probably be on the dole. Maybe eventually, but not in the immediate future. The money she'll see from sponsorship/endorsement and advertising following LI will more than make up for any loss of earnings as a result of leaving the Dreamgirls ensemble.

Short term - almost certainly But could she have gone on to have a better West End/performing career over the next 2 decades if she had honoured her contract? Impossible to know for certain. But doors have now been shut that could have offered more theatre work. Love Island fame is fleeting for most of those involved. And whilst you can make a living doing appearances in nightclubs and at meet'n'greets, is that as fulfilling as pursuing the career you trained for? Everyone is entitled to make their own choices - but seems like a short-sighted one.

I would live to see Karen be the lead! She would suit it. Something tells me that Samira will go far in the show and Sonia will hire her to lead in the cast. Or mabye she could star in a pantomime just in time for Christmas or something? There’s only been roumours that Sonia is not happy, no confirmation.

Conversely, who's to say she doesn't make a huge impact following LI. What with Dreamgirls' attendances dwindling and an imminent closure, having a tour lined up - grudges and morals aside - casting someone with national recognition might be worthwhile. Not that I expect that to occur.

I doubt she’d get hired anytime soon if she’s known for just leaving mid contract, producers won’t want to risk it surely?

She’s gone from a zero as an ensemble member whom 90% of people wouldn’t appreciate her peformance as people are more worried about the leads to a hero who is known to millions now and her exposure is bigger than ever. I would be so surprised if she doesn’t get cast in any shows, a producer won’t be so stupid to not cast her because she left for such a better opportunity!
