Is it different lighting? I don't remember it being so gold?

Is it different lighting? I don't remember it being so gold? It was definitely a lot more white. I think its probably done for the photo, for effect.

Just saw this tonight, it was AMAZING!!! Was crying by the interval and also crying at the end. Well deserved standing ovation by everyone. Oh how I hated Curtis, he was every guy who has ever wronged a girl. Such wonderful voices and performances. So happy I got a chance to see it. Loved it!

So happy I got a chance to see it. And all for £18. Now that is a real bargain!

Well Cynthia would never replace and there really isn't a role in the show that would suit her....She's not a Deena or Effie. Though she has a VERY high opinion of herself like Marisha so you never know....

Not sure if its just me, but there seems to be 2 missing photos on the site. Well there is only one actual production photo of Karen, as well as that losed one her and Marisha did last year from One Night Only, so I wouldn't be surprised if the missing ones were of her.

So happy I got a chance to see it. And all for £18. Now that is a real bargain! Actually I was wrong. Turns out I only paid £15 for the Cyber Monday offer. Deal of the year! 😀 It was just such an excellent show and I highly recommend it.

So, now I finally have my laptop back, I can risk posting a moderate version of my views, and having been forced to wait a week to do so may have lent them some perspective, though I really don't think they've changed.
Overall I found this very disappointing, though I couldn't fault the committed performances; some (some!) of the costumes were lovely and the story, hackneyed as it is, does eventually engage.
The music however was a tremendous let-down as there wasn't one pleasant or memorable melody so absolutely no chance that I would even emerge singing a refrain, let alone that I would still be doing so days later, as has been the case with some other "new" shows I've seen.
Some of the numbers, particularly the early ones, were positively unpleasant to my ear and I couldn't wait for them to end, but I get that that was the point, plot-wise, i.e. that managers wanted to change or tone down the characters' musical style in order to appeal to white audiences. Even afterwards, however, I genuinely didn't actually like anything I heard.
As for the singing style, it seems to be the fashion now for lines/phrases to be drawn out to lengths I find ridiculous, with endless trilling and warbling, which to my ear both distorts the song and prolongs the agony. Not only that but one cast member in particular (I won't identify her as I've probably already said enough to call down on my head the collective wrath of this show's many fans) also seemed to have an irritating habit of going loud and soft all the time, as though someone were turning her volume dial up and down.
To sum up, I am glad to have seen the show at last and was happy with the price I paid as a result of waiting, but it fell way short of my expectations and I honestly don't understand how anyone could sit through it more than once.

New Audio of Karen Mav singing And I Am Telling recently. Judging by this audio she has really got the hang of being Effie. Pleasantly surprised by her originality and it's her own rendition of it now!

Also didn't really hear any emotion in what should be a very emotional song.

Most definitely. I'd still be glad to see Karen live. I can only comment on the audio but I'd always reserve full judgement until I've seen a live performance.

I wonder who will be Effie tomorrow!? Maybe Moya & Marisha, or Marisha both as she has done both shows alot before and it would still mean she got 5 shows this week

Does anybody know what it’s lkek to sit stalls Row N 29 or around that? I’m seeing the show form this seat. Is it alright? I know the rake is good I’m just wary about how far it could be from the stage and how it’s on the end of the row? Monkey could you help? Is it too far back you miss out on some action? Thanks anyone!
