My Hotel Chocolat delivery has arrived. Guess I'll just have to eat chocolate for a few days. If you like their chocolate get one of their velvetisers. Best purchase i made during lockdown by far. I'm not all that keen on hot chocolate, although a few years ago they did send me a promotional sample of their hot chocolate mix and it was rather delicious. Perhaps as winter draws in... |

Peggs you have a novel there. Read some Nina Stibbe and you will come up with something similar. Well done for getting out of the hospital all in one piece and if I may suggest something from experience, get your GP to insist on the scan. There must be a reason you were referred. Oh I did have a scan thanks lynette, I was puzzled at seemingly being given it as an option when I thought it was why I was there. If first scan had found anything then might have progressed onto different second one but nothing found. It was one of those rule things out scans. |

peggs, I hope all is OK. Your hospital 'adventure' sounded pretty close to one of my own, but with a better ending. (I was supposed to have a test done, but whoever made the appointment from the hospital's side forgot it was a day before a major public holiday, so all the technicians went home early, long before I even arrived, and then the doctor and I spent half an hour trying to find someone to do the test. We failed miserably. I now think the story is hilarious, but having had to get out of work to do the actual test, at the time it was just purely annoying.) Self-isolation diary, Day 4. Bought a cheap ticket to see Mark Gatiss read horror stories from a stage in Nottingham over Zoom. Life could definitely be worse! Also bought a ticket to see a live-stream of James Graham's new play, and one for a 'Zoom drums hangout' with my all-time favourite drummer. Finally small events to look forward to! Should be rather broke but relatively sane by day 14 if all goes according to plan.

I have found a small plastic foot on my stairs. Not a foot as in something with toes, but one of those pads that's stuck on the bottom of things so they don't scratch tables. What's puzzling me is where it came from, because I can't find anything that's missing a foot and I can't think of anything that might have plastic feet that would have been on the stairs.

It's lower in calories and keeps longer. Doesn't do so well in the frying pan, but you can't have everything. |

My first trip down to London today since mid March for a theatre binge. The journey down from Liverpool was fine though one lady in the carriage I was sat in decided to completely ignore the seat reservation stated on her ticket and sit in someone else’s seat in my carriage (carriage B) because the carriage she was meant to be sat on was too far down the road platform for her to walk to (carriage F). Though the individual whose seat it actually was eventually showed up (with a dog) so the lazy lady ended up in her actual seat anyway.
Negotiating the Euston station concourse and the underground this afternoon has been far more pleasant with less people using it. Also with less traffic on the roads in central London it just makes it a nicer and healthier place to walk around in this really lovely weather. I just hope it stays this nice tomorrow night when I am at the OAT for JCS,
One moan I do have is the monstrosity that currently occupies the fourth plinth. What appears to be an oversized icecream sundae with an attached drone. There have been some nice pieces of art over the years that have occupied that spot, but sorry the current piece does nothing for me.

I'm not one to bear a grudge, but if Mr Woods had been a better PE teacher, I too could have been a top footballer like Gary Linekar, and then a moderately paid TV pundit with a new 5 year contract. ⚽️
Tbf, I don't think he ever really recovered from Ms Betts leaving him for Mr Craven...Mr Woods, that is. I'm far as I'm aware, Ms Betts was never in a relationship with Gary Lineker, though she was originally from Nottingham, so maybe they had an early hours assignation after spending the evening at Melton Mowbray's top nite spot. 🕺💃
It would be a real struggle getting by on my BBC pay, but at least there's the crisp work to fall back on. 🥔

So turns out trying to book a flu jab is now like booking theatre, they have the same walking person, you watch, you anticipate, you get through finally AND then there's no jabs available anywhere.

I was really lucky with mine- the text came out and I was at home so managed to jump on and get my vaccination booked- so it’s next week. It’s about the only good thing I can say about my GP surgery at the moment who have been abysmal throughout lockdown and beyond... |

I’ve managed to tick something off my bucket list this afternoon - a high speed boat ride down the Thames to the Thames barrier. A great 80 minute spent with James Bond songs playing as we sped down the Thames. I’m just glad I didn’t have any lunch beforehand! Now to rest before a trip to Wembley Park for tonight’s performance of Sleepless.

I have Spuggles. This is Spuggles:  Spuggles is a digital model whose retail price is $999,999.99 but is usually discounted to $7,000.00. Very rarely he's available for free. I managed to get him for free. (The reason for the ridiculously high price is that he's used for testing the retail software and I don't think you can actually buy him for the usual price, but when he's free you can put him in your shopping cart.) I have no idea what I'm going to do with Spuggles, but I couldn't resist. |

Had a lovely morning have a walk around the Barbican Centre Conservatory. A fantastic place just to chill out and relax for a hour or so. This afternoon is quality time with my sister and niece walking around the Olympic park before heading over to the Bridge Theatre for more of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads as my final show of the week

My flatmate asked me this morning if I could lend him my MACbook charger, because his had stopped working for no apparent reason.
Now mine isn't working either. (The new one I got less than a year ago, because my old one died.)
I think that basically sums up my day. Well, that and the fact that it is my 12th day indoors. (Only two more days though!)
(The only silver lining I can think of is that it's my personal MAC charger, rather than my work one. Not too much of a consolation, though.)

Open House tour of Shaftesbury Theatre this morning. They've huge plans to expand to the side (into the pavement and road) for extended bar and piazza, improved disabled access and more ladies loos ... The tour was absolutely great, about an hour long, 11 of us on the 11.30 tour, at social distance - through the auditorium, up to the stage, down to the orchestra "pit" (they've a corner at the back of the stage with the percussion in a separate box ...), up up up to dressing rooms, costume and wig department, up on to the roof (!), down to the complex rigging and down to the Grand Circle.
So glad I got a ticket, so glad I decided to go (with the increase in Covid cases - I drove in rather than tube, ££ on parking and ££ on congestion charge).
