Feeling very happy as I've just learnt that the BBC's text service has had a last minute reprieve.
Every morning, and every night when I get home from a show, I switch on the TV and check the news headlines there. I know there are plenty of other sources of news but nothing else that you can read through quickly, or at leisure while while watching a BBC programme. It's also useful for weather, train delays, motorway hold ups and so much more. I for one have relied on it for at least 25 years.
Hoping it's more than a temporary reprieve.

I use it during commercial breaks and consider that really I'm doing something worthwhile and not just watching rubbish.

Slow day for me at work today....I feel it's a 'calm before the storm' situation though.

Was very pleased to be sitting a few tables along from Lia Williams today, who was on her own trying to learn some lines by the looks of it. Separate to her script, she had a copy of the Oresteia, which I thought was interesting...

Depressed at "Crackerjack" this week...Between three of them they didn't get a single question out of the 9 set. All was not lost, though. As Mark pointed out, Kingsley's face was an absolute picture. And, despite all that foam, his stool then ricocheted out of the pit, just for good measure. Having never seen one of their theatre shows, I realise I'm not really qualified to comment, but I did wonder if the Mischief team were watching with their notepads. I know the team building sketch was supposed to go wrong, but those corporate away days must be a rich seam just waiting to be mined.

[...] Was surprised they didn't know JK Rowling's first name [...] To save anyone else from googling, her full name is of course "Jowling Kowling Rowling".

Currently celebrating my niece’s 1st birthday. The presents seem to be a big hit with her. Not having seen her since Christmas, it’s amazing how much she has developed.

My niece was 1 last month and I think her favourite present was a sandwich she stole off someone, she is a girl much after my own heart. Well done on your present selection, pretty sure I remember mine just bring lobbed on the floor.

My garden fence and tree survived the storm but my neighbour's fence managed to have two panels wander off. Weirdly, they managed to head upwind; I don't know how that happened.
It was rather scary driving this morning, with trees bending down over the road and twigs and branches scattered everywhere. I only saw one tree that had actually fallen across the road, and with commendable speed it had already been sawn up into logs when I came back an hour later.

So Biggins isn't retiring from panto. He's starring in "Jack & the Beanstalk" at the Orchard Dartford this year.

A bit of a mixed bag today. After having to abandon trying to get back up North yesterday due to the stormy weather causing all the trains along the West Coast line to be cancelled, I finally managed to get home this afternoon very smoothly and found no storm damage to my house. However, my Combi boiler has now decided it doesn’t want to work this evening and now needs an engineer call out tomorrow. Thankfully I still have the gas fire working to keep warm.

Had a reply to my letter calling out the racist football fans on the tube. The club apologised, sent me a helpful link to their website page on what they are doing to combat racism (pretty reasonable go, with an awareness week and more). More important, they have passed it to their resident police officer, who will liaise with British Transport Police to see if there is any video footage. Even if there isn't, they promise it has been recorded as an action point. A result of sorts, quite pleased. Got FA so far from the FA, though, interestingly. i'm impressed by the club's response, reassuring, not so good from the FA though there seems to be rather a lot of finger pointing from them at other countries recently as if it wasn't an issue here.

Well, I had a dancer and his boyfriend sat behind me on the bus this morning. The dancer was on his way to an audition for a named role as an Italian. The boyfriend was impressed. Probably a musical theatre audition based on the context. The star didn't look immediately familiar, but I also didn't get a good look.

We're having a goodbye party for the best boss I've ever had, whose last day is tomorrow. Sad! But the snacks are good!

A day of lasts and a first for this avid theatre goer.
This afternoon my fourth and final visit to School Of Rock at the Gillian Lynne using my last London Theatre New Year Sale ticket, promotion ended today (Thursday) In the last five weeks I've also seen Wicked, Waitress, Matilda, Mamma Mia, Phantom Of The Opera and Everybody's Talking About Jamie, all from the front or second row of the stalls. Roll on next year's sale .
The first this evening was Message In A Bottle. I booked it without realising it's a dance show and wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed it. Incredible acrobatic dancing and the Police/ Sting song lyrics combine to tell a simple but engaging tale. The view from dead centre front row stalls was breathtaking.
I also ate two Steak and Cheese subs thanks to a Metro BOGOF voucher !

Great to hear about Message In A Bottle, FrontroverPaul, as I have my eye on this for an evening slot (shorter running time), but as it's previewing there are no reviews yet. I took a chance on something yesterday evening (central London, though venue not considered "West End" as it sounded interesting and was shortish (90 mins, no interval) and cheaper to see a preview. Boy did I regret it and long within minutes to escape, but "Yyou pays your money and takes your chance" - and sometimes that would pay off, too.

Had a frustrating morning trying to book tickets to see Frank Skinner at the Theatre Royal in Bath for OH birthday. Tickets weren't in basket, then it kept saying I had too many, then only restricted view at the back and I couldn't leave a single seat. I was supposed to be working so gave up when the website went down. Logged in again a couple of hours later on my lunch break and got the last 2 front row seats!

Have somehow hurt top half of back (possibly after doing the mildest of exercise after one of those health test machines suggested I was more fat than the Michelin man). Unable to take more than paracetamol due to other conditions, now whimpering at every tiny movement or in fact non movement. Having seen doctor and gone through several hopeful maybe it'll be better in the morning and no change now wondering how I'm going to function. ☹

Horrible, peggs , hope you get better soon. Can you take Ibruprofen, as that is better for muscle pain than Parcetemol, apparently. Sadly not, I have a hiatus hernia and IBS and it makes them much worse. Have the gel to try but it's a bugger trying to apply that to your upper back! My clothes are going to be pain free at least.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've unfurled the hood on my (very unstylish) anorak. Today, I've unfurled the hood on my anorak. Thankfully, the city centre is deserted, so no danger of being recognised! 🌧🌧🌧🌧
And I've given shandy advice to an upper middle class lady in Waitrose...which sounds rude, but she really did want to know how to make shandy. 🍺

Urban Massage, not cheap but good sends masseuse to your home. Might help.

Urban massage is a thing? Will keep it in mind thanks. Currently leaning on a bag of defrosting peas since last time I injured myself the physio intoned ice it, ice it.
