I’m seeing it next weekend, having a pre- Christmas get together with friends so it fits the bill perfectly for us!

The cruise wasn't going too badly until today, when I heard someone on board has been diagnosed with norovirus. I have emetophobia. I pretty much want to run screaming from the ship right now.

Horrendous.
Earlier this year I booked to see my favourite comedian the awesome Milton Jones at the City Hall in Newcastle. I did my usual of confirming everything countless times. Happy everything was correct I confirmed the booking
My ticket arrived - for S****horpe. Bloody S****horpe. Straight on the phone to Ticketmaster. Oh we’ll listen to your call and we’ll sort everything out for you don’t worry.
I got their reply. Sorry we can’t find the call so unfortunately we cant change your ticket. We can put in on the ticket exchange for you. Absolutely gutted. So because they conveniently cant find the call tough.
I can’t afford another ticket and all the best seats have gone. I’m putting a complaint in not that I think it will change anything.
So hacked off I opened a tin of my Christmas chocolates.
😥😥😥

Waiting in Spanish A&E because the infection I mentioned before has still not cleared up properly.

Mmm, Coughlans' gingerbread mince pies! I'm no fan of Xmas and would cancel it if I could, but if it has to happen, trying out new variations on an old theme is a small compensation.

Channel flicking the other day happened upon some Poirot, never thought David Suchet would top that sublime Pinter short with the cat but I tell you him singing one man went to mow a meadow as a Belgian detective came pretty close.

In Gibraltar. Survived Morocco (incubation periods of diseases permitting) & not (yet) got norovirus so it's going pretty well. Some board members may appreciate the following tweets:

Having liked the gingerbread mince pie I tried a few days ago, I am now continuing the non-traditional pie-tasting with a Sainsbury's rum, pineapple and coconut version.

Bit of an exhausting journey back from that London. Reminded me that it's hard work going anywhere in November and December. Mixture of people experiences- a positive one, similar to @theatremonkey, of a companion dropping something in a theatre and having someone chase them to return it. An irritating one of someone near me on a train who spent the whole journey phoning various people and telling them all the same stories about her weekend. And then the despairing eye-rolling experience of reading a Facebook thread about Odeon giving away advent calendars at screenings of Frozen. A few samples: "Very disappointed, this wasn't an advent calendar, it was a flat piece of card"; "It's flat with nothing in it, just pictures" and the highlight "False advertising if you ask me". And we wonder why children have a sense of entitlement..

Home from the cruise. The Bay of Biscay wasn't too bad on the way back after the first few hours, & we've not (yet) gone down with anything of the virus variety so overall a fairly successful cruise. I was however deeply disappointed to get to Santiago de Compostella on our final stop & find the interior of the church shrouded in scaffolding & plastic sheeting. I suppose it's the building equivalent of "never meet your idols", as I've wanted to go there for about 20 years. And one more monkey pic:

It probably helps that it's not raining for once, and yesterday would have been payday for many, but I think everyone woke this morning with the exact same thought - Christmas shopping.
There, I did it, I used the C-word!

Christmas shopping. There, I did it, I used the C-word! I don't know if it was Christmas shopping, but in Sainsbury's this afternoon I saw someone doing some c-word shopping. Chips. All the chips. He pretty much emptied the freezer. (In my mind there are all manner of strange and interesting explanations, but the real one is probably something boring like he was buying for a restaurant that had run out.)

There, I did it, I used the C-word! Not everyone - I certainly didn't. What I'm mostly thinking of at the moment is laundry. We've done 5 loads of washing since getting home yesterday & are still no-where near done!

I set myself a challenge to see at least 30 shows in 30 days this month. Completed it today (Sat); 30 musicals plus one play with music, one pop concert, one comedy show and today the wonderful Thursford Christmas Spectacular which is a bit of everything on a 100 foot stage (the longest in the UK?).
Enjoyed every show, awarded 9 of the 34 my personal 10/10 rating and there was nothing below a 7/10. Hope to try for 35 shows in a month sometime next year. Haven't found it at all tiring and could happily do the same every month. I could see even more shows if I actually lived in London rather than 30 miles away in Kent.
I estimate I've travelled about 3400 miles altogether in November, mainly by train, and managed to knock another fair chunk off the kids' inheritance.
No better way for a theatre musicals fanatic with a decent pension to spend the retirement years. I'm very lucky.

It’s great to read stories like this. I’m sure the kids won’t mind having less inheritance. You’ve built up a nice little nest egg so go out and enjoy spending it while your able to.

God bless the person who invented spray-on plasters. How I got by without them all these years is beyond me. Normally, a cut finger means a large plaster making it hard to type. Spray on, and the film is invisible, more wash-proof than any other type, and built-in antiseptic. Random this post may be, but I mean it! They're a thing? Always seem to need plasters in places that just rub off, are a nuisance.

I set myself a challenge to see at least 30 shows in 30 days this month. ... Haven't found it at all tiring and could happily do the same every month. I'm in awe at your stamina. If I go to the theatre more than 2 days running or more than about 3 times in a week then I end up exhausted. You must be blessed with excellent nervous & digestive systems! (When I was at school at least 90% of the use of Copydex was to paint it on things and then peel off the thin rubber film.)

You must be blessed with excellent nervous & di I often get home by train after midnight, eat my main meal of the day at 1 am and go to bed around 2.30am . By 9 the following morning I'm ready to go again. I find I need less sleep as I get older (I'm 64). I take food with me as much as possible but do succumb to a £1.99 McDonalds Metro voucher meal about once a week. Today is the first weekday I haven't been to the theatre since late October and I'm already itching to get back out there. Booked a few more shows for next year to keep me going - up to 44 already.

I'm 34 & still have the sleeping habits of a teenager, my natural wake-up time being after 10am no matter what time I went to bed the night before. I imagine eating while on the go must help. I never eat when theatregoing, so if I'm doing a double-show day in London then I don't eat anything for about 12 hours. Hence it's not sustainable for more than 2 days running.

In a particularly pointless 6 hour meeting at work successfully managed to zone out of one conversation and instead mentally tot up how many different Shakespeare productions I'd seen, by far the most productive thing I did all day.
