Just found out I am going to my 1st football match in a few weekends: brother is refereeing the cup final so I get to see him in action in a big game. Which will be a great honour. Only downer is he tells me it is not “an interval”, there will be no musical theatre act in between the halves, and bringing canapés and Prosecco is not the done thing! 😀😀

The audience behaviour is terrible at those things. No matter how much you shush them they won't stay quiet.

Yes I gather so 😀 Well if they so much as even try to sing along with the 11o clock number or jeer during the bows once all has ended then I will throw my duck and bilberry vol au vents at the offenders.

And on the gardening theme, I’ve managed to buy some verbena for £1 a plant in Poundland. I like a bargain! (Although you don’t really expect to spend more than a £1 in a pound shop...)

Attended a beautiful wedding, very moving and a lovely chance to catch up with people I love. Saw someone I really like very much who is still taken (DAMN IT), we had a good chat and it was very nice.
Got me thinking about my own pretend wedding - Game of Thrones themed tables around the Five Kings! The Balon Greyjoy table is served squid, only squid. The Joffrey table is expected to drink wine and lots of it. The Stannis table get their own regrets served cold.

Recovering from the most emotional weekend in Liverpool for the Fame Reunion. Such an incredible event and the most amazing fans who were all so friendly and fun - we were all back to being kids again for the entire time. The cast were fabulous not only giving great performances but also giving so much time to fans at various meet and greet events - they all signed anything wanted, had tons of photos taken and took time to talk to people. All this despite most of them being down with bronchial problems and having spent an entire week rehearsing, doing interviews etc. On top of all that they didn't get paid a penny as it was all for charity - Claire's House Hospice in Liverpool.
What a wonderful group of people - now hoping they can do it all again sometime, I'd be there like a shot

As I'm going to the theatre tonight, I thought I'd do it in style and eat out too. 🍽 I decided against ordering the BurlyBeaR size portion, and opted instead for just the 15oz gammon steak, with chips, fried egg, garden peas, pineapple slice and half a grilled tomato, all washed down with a pint of real ale, obvs. 🍺 And for the first time ever, I ordered using an app, which I feel slightly guilty about, but at least I didn't have the usual conundrum of either using my coat 🧥 to reserve my table, or take it with me to the bar at the risk of returning to find someone sitting where I had been. So along with binge-watching the final three episodes of a TV series 🖥, I'm slowly but surely joining the 21st century. Shame I'll be travelling home on a train that dates from the 1950s. 🚂

Really annoyed. - Had to turn down a ticket for "The Best of Rock Musicals" on Sunday as no tubes & no mainline train also. Two replacement bus services in each direction is more than I can tolerate.

Spent the last 3 months fighting hurdles and roadblocks trying to build up attention and help out an event I really believe in, in an area that persistently moans about nothing ever happening, for people to flake out and suddenly bail or just become unresponsive. Feeling deflated and despondent.

^I know those feelings only too well, @serial Shusher
Used to help out a lot with something similar sounding, but eventually it just gets to you. You can only get so far on your own enthusiasm if people don't step up to help when they say they will. People find it easier to moan about something staying the same that helping to get it changed.

Watched the trailer for HBO's Chernobyl on Friday and freaked myself out (mostly due to that shot of the guy I have christened, "Meltedy Spoon" a la Emma Donoghue's Room).* So what did I do on Friday night? Went and watched the first episode. That was sensible. In case you watched it and were like, "hmmm who's that guy who just got his face toasted, he seems FAMILIAR," I am here to tell you that it's Jory from Game of Thrones. I love him and his big sad eyes Also starring Paul Ritter as Angry Soviet Shift Boss Dyatlov, and Donald Sumpter as Stoic Party Man. It's haunting. And it's going to get a lot worse (and apparently includes straight-up pet murder in episode four, because, y'know, that's what happened). Anyone else scarred themselves by watching? *ETA to say trailer is absolutely NSFW unless your colleagues also enjoy graphic injury and Russian loudspeaker announcements. Also first episode is worth avoiding if you are an emetophobe!

Also first episode is worth avoiding if you are an emetophobe! Thanks for the warning. I read an article about this the other day & thought it sounded interesting but now I know to avoid it.

I’m doing the view from the Shard at the moment. A fantastic experience which is definitely helped by this great weather. It definitely gives you a great overall perspective of London. You forget how big the city actually is until you see if from up high.

Well, it's been quite a day...again.
The weather, even in the grim north, is glorious. I've seen the first Azuma train in public service. I've been given a free goody bag. I've spent the afternoon drinking real ale. I've bought a £20 Richard Coles book, which I thought had been reduced to £3, for just £1.50. I've had a curry for tea, and more beer.
And tonight I'm unexpectedly going to the theatre.
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

I've seen the first Azuma train in public service. That name just makes me think of the people who buy your old phone.

To celebrate my 40th birthday today I’ll be doing the Up the O2 roof walk this morning. If I survive I’m then off to the Duke of York theatre tonight to watch Rosenholm.

Happy birthday david . I can't imagine what it feels like to be 40. That's ancient. Did you pay extra for ticket insurance, just in case?
