You have an electric drill and you want to drill many holes in the connecting wall of a terraced house. What's the best time to do this? a) 09:00 b) 14:00 c) 22:30 If you're my neighbour the answer is apparently C. Two nights running.
I have an old hunting horn. I think it's time I learnt to play it. I get up at around 05:00 every morning. Hmmm...
(I think the secret is to produce one long flatulent blast every morning, just enough to get a "What was that‽" reaction but not enough to provide an answer to that question.)

You do know they can be repaired, right? Oh get away with your guilt tripping me! My old microwave was white. The rest of my kitchen thingamies have all been replaced from white to silver and back to white again in the time I've had that microwave. It was OLD! I've obviously decided to go orange now, and I'm kind of liking the idea, though do ask me again when the giant orange rectangle gets delivered tomorrow! (Whoever invented silver appliances obviously had an evil sense of humour and deserves to spend the rest of their life in a room with Michael and Alfie, without earplugs.) Yes, I was hardly going to fly-tip. It would have gone in the skip for them to sort out. Now I have to take it to the dump and they started charging last week. I suppose I could always put it in the garden and turn it into a sandpit...

If nothing else, 30 years of brass band playing has taught me how to piss the neighbours off.

I think the place that sold you the new microwave is now obliged by law to accept the old one free for recycling. Oh! Well I had an option to tick a box for them to take it away for £15. Decided that they can't possibly charge that at the dump, so opted out.

Liquids and electricity are normally a bad combination, but these are known as the WEEE regulations. 😊 Your online retailer will probably claim, if challenged, that the recycling *is* free and the £15 is just to cover transport costs. Seems a bit rich as their van is travelling from the depot to Tibidabo Towers, and back again, anyway.

Suddenly realised the trouble you could get into if you want your old Nintendo console re-cycled. "Under WEEE, can you recycle my Wii?" "Sorry sir, we don't recycle Wii under Wii." But "WEEE says you must recycle my Wii." It's a "Two Ronnies" accident waiting to happen, I tells ya. You've reminded me of a classic doctor/patient exchange on 24 Hours in A&E. The doctor was British, her patient was an American teenager (rather than a werewolf) living in London. Dr: Does it hurt when you wee? Teenager: I haven't got a Wii, the Xbox is better! (It was funnier than I've written it. Honest!)

You do know they can be repaired, right Trouble is, you often can't get the parts - and if you do, it costs more than a new one. Don't know about Tibidabo 's local council, but ours won't take electricals in bins or skips. You have to deliver them to a designated place for re-cycling anyway. For me, my electrical goods last so long that I never feel guilty replacing a broken item after a decade or more anyway, as new ones are more energy-efficient. Every time we take something electrical to the local repair shop to try to get it repaired they always say that it's not worth it & tell us to just buy a new one. Maybe with the increasing emphasis on the environment & reducing waste at some point repair shops will actually deign to do some repairs!

It's arrived. And it's wonky. Big shout out to the 2 lettered online electrical company with the big green lorries. I called customer services and spoke to The Most Cheerful Person Ever In The World, who exclaimed: "Aw naaawwwww! You dooant want a wong-que microweeyave!" So it's all sorted for exchange. (I didn't have the guts to ask for the green one 'cos the orange clashes with my bread bin ...)

Is that supposed to be Lancastrian, Tibs? We may be bitter rivals, but I won't have them mocked by a southerner. 🙂
I did warn you that orange would clash!

Currently enjoying a last bit of sunshine and 30 degree temperatures in Havana after a couple of weeks of rambling around Cuba. Hope London isn't going to be too cold when I get back tomorrow!

After almost 10 years of living with a falling apart kitchen, we are in the middle of having a new kitchen finally done. Fitter has messed up the flooring though, and I’m probably going to have to get someone else in to take it up and redo it. Could have done without the hassle, especially as the kitchen itself is looking fab.

Spent the afternoon seeing A Clockwork Orange at the Curzon cinema in Curzon Street with a Q&A from a very croaky voiced Malcolm McDowell after (I think he’s overdone things over the last few days - I saw him do an event with Christopher Frayling at the BFI on Friday night and he was in fine fettle, but I saw he has been out and about a fair bit since) followed by dinner at Hakkasan: food was good but when the bill came up and I saw what was owing I was SO glad I didn’t push the boat out (I think a week of Tesco budget sandwiches and Pot Noodles is coming up)

Interesting evening. Heard a loud bang, thought it was a firework. Police cars and ambulances rushing past. Next thing knock on my door from police asking if I had seen anything. Turns out it was a double shooting in the alleyway 2 doors away from me. I know its London but that was a bit close for comfort.

Tonight is one of those rare occasions when, at 9pm, there is something I'd like to watch on all five 'main' TV channels.
Even if I +1, I still have the same problem, cos there are two programmes I'd like to watch at 10pm!

De-prioritise the ones on the BBC, the iPlayer will be there to pick up the pieces for you, and lord knows the ITV and channel 4 equivalents aren't much cop.

If only the latest series had consisted of three or four episodes, rather than six, @theatremonkey! 🙂 Should the current Mr Tibs be getting worried, Tibidabo? I hope it wasn't the life insurance company you've been making all these 'amazin' telephone calls to. 🤔

Bit miffed that I booked to see 2 cabaret shows in May and the lineup has changed so I won't see either of the people I booked for. I realise this was always subject to change and I expect I'll enjoy them anyway but I'm still fed up about it.

Love Derry Girls. At friends house, have been given tv controls and told to find something on Netflix and surprise her. Pressure.
