Quit my job today - not sure it's meant to be as traumatic as it felt, but I do like my current job and am only moving because if I don't take the other opportunity now I never will. So I am feeling both excited and emotionally drained at the same time!

One of those days where you find out who you can depend on, and who you can no longer really trust. The good news is there are WAY more of the former than I ever suspected, it just about makes up for how thoroughly disappointing the latter are.

I've had many a moment like that over the past couple of years and those who have shown they can be depended on are rarely those I expected

After whole train journey listening to a woman bang on about her enormous house and successful children tempted to correct her that Philip glenister isn't on at bridge theatre and if she supports it so much she should know it's not 'the' bridge.

People suck so much. Why is it that the people who don't know you are the ones most convinced that their opinion of you can't possibly be wrong?
It's days like these that make me glad cider is a thing that exists. Also custard. Separately.

Late catching up but I've won tickets to The Commitments with a backstage tour by Killian Donnelley except the fecker was off, so we were shown around by a nice young man. The Commitments was my favourite show at the time so I was well chuffed! I won tickets to Top Hat too, which was lovely - enjoyed it a lot and did a review which the competition runner put on their webpage : www.londontheatredirect.com/news/our-tickettuesday-winner-ann-fitzgerald-loved-top-hat-read-her-review (bloody hell, 2013?!?). My pal won tickets to Mamma Mia. Awful audience. Woman in the loo said she'd expected more audience participation (was expecting a sing-a-long).

The biggest problem for me. It's a vicious circle, I want relationship more than anything but am so painfully shy and awkward that I can't speak to people. Asking me to talk to a stranger is like asking me to run when I have no legs. My extrovert friends don't understand it at all and it's quite hard to explain. At least you evidently have a number of friends though, which shows that you can manage to have social relationships. I have one friend, who I met at school when we were 9 but rarely see nowadays as she married & moved elsewhere. Since then I've never managed to make friends with anyone else. So you should find it encouraging that you have been able to make friends with multiple people. *Cough, cough ..... (waves) I'd count you as a friend, if it helps

M, find a comment you can throw out at such people, like for example, 'well, my real friends wouldn’t think that..' or variations on that idea. Don’t let people say stuff about you at all, not on.

I'm going out this evening so custard isn't an option. But custard for breakfast is reasonable, isn't it?

Day started off really well - weather was lovely so we decided on a walk which went through woodland above a river with lots of cascades and waterfalls. Then we had to turn downhill, through a gate. As I turned, feet got caught by a bramble and I faceplanted the path, (just like that) hands down, felt something give.... and 3 hours later I'm home with my arm in plaster, with a fractured wrist. *sigh* I'm so annoyed, it's the same arm that I broke my elbow just two years ago. Managed to survive 64 years with no damage or injury, two years in our lovely new retirement area, and I'm close to having my own chair in A & E!!

Thank you! It is quite painful right now but I'm sure it'll be easier tomorrow. All those physio exercises I learned will come in useful again!!

Just got home and stood on a snail in the dark, now ridden with guilt. Oddly I did the same the other evening, coming home after dark, and couldn't work out until next morning what on earth I could have stepped on right outside our front door, and which went "crunch" as I did so. Normally I'd obviously avoid any small creature on the path/pavement.

This was the conclusion of my taxi ride home from the station last night:
The driver either momentarily dozed off or blacked out and drove straight into the island on a pedestrian crossing at about 45mph. He didn't even brake.
I'm OK, was checked out by a paramedic at the scene, and I'm very lucky that seatbelt pretensioners work - I'm just a bit shaken up. The driver wasn't visibly hurt, but was taken to casualty, and deserves to lose his licence.
Wear your seatbelt, even if it's just a short cab ride. The seatbelt is the reason I was able to walk away.

Just got home and stood on a snail in the dark, now ridden with guilt. If it’s any help peggs it’s your intention that matters, or so I’ve been told after exactly the same incident (different snail obviously). If you didn’t intend to kill or injure the snail, and you regret your unintentional action , then you mustn’t feel guilty .... regret yes, guilt no. Regret is constructive , guilt is destructive .
