Went to the doctor this morning and had my suspicions confirmed - my irritating cough is in fact a chest infection and so I'm now dosed up on antibiotics. Struggled into work to find my computer isn't working. 2 hours later and I'm still waiting for someone to fix it so I can do any work! Go home. You have a chest infection, you need to rest up - plus you'll give it to your co-workers. And you can't do any work without a computer anyway. Sadly they fixed the computer and I have too much work with urgent deadlines and no-one to cover for me. Luckily my office mate is off today so I can barricade myself in my office and ignore the world. Aside from the hacking cough I feel alright.

I was at a conference for work today and it was so cold in the room I cracked and put my actual outside winter coat back on.

I'm hoping we can hold out until 1 November, which we managed last year. But it is due to turn much colder in the south-east this weekend so we may crack then. And when I stayed in York earlier this month I was jolly glad of the heating then; only snag was the timing as it didn't come on until I'd been up for about 3 hours and was about to go out, but I couldn't be bothered to fiddle with the timer.

I over dressed for a dog walk and was sweating halfway.
Meanwhile I finished 9, 000 words of transcription and my wrist aches from repetitive strain like I've been...well, never-mind.

We haven't cracked as far as central heating is concerned but we've had the woodburner lit most evenings for ummm...the last couple of weeks...

Our heating made up its own mind and came on a week ago. Very sophisticated system which we can’t operate properly! So it goes up and down all on its own. I must say I have enjoyed this lovely bright weather we've had last few days.

I have the heating on first thing in the morning and late in the evening because otherwise my house gets weirdly cold at this time of year. I often have to discard clothing when I go out. Last Sunday, for example, I wore a long-sleeved shirt and a sweater indoors but switched to a short-sleeved shirt when I went outside.

Have been wearing coat at work on and off for several weeks, have moved into a different office, the heating doesn't work, it gets no sun and is battle ship grey to add to the cheery feel, one day I even wore my woolly hat. Heating has broken at home, gas man ain't coming until a week on Thursday. My mother has pointed out I will burn my calories shivering!

I hate having to have the heating on at home. I'd much rather regulate my own temperature with layers (and cosy blankets on the really cold nights), not to mention I can't get to sleep if there isn't a light frost coating my duvet, but alas if one doesn't spread the warmth, one does run the risk of things getting damp.

Just checking, you do know that having a grass carpet and tree growing in the centre of your living room isn't normal, right? That small trick that real estate agents don't want you to know: Renting out a little sleeping space in the walk-in fridges in central London restaurants is much cheaper than nearby flats.

The estate agent was very persuasive in convincing me that the huge size of the house more than made up for the fact that it had no roof. Or walls.

Oh dear! So sorry to hear that peggs and isabel. It seems to be the season for it - a friend lost their cat yesterday, too.

It does indeed, my Aunt has just taken her very elderly cat to the vet (not sure what's wrong yet)
My love to you both though, losing a bet is the most hearbreaking of things.

I almost feel guilty posting that it was a good day. My last day of work before vacation (work remotely) and the office email wasn't working and didn't get working until I logged off for vacation!!!
Another hour and I can check into my flight for Gatwick and I swear it doesn't even feel real. I was able to use all the overtime I've worked lately as comp time so that is 4 days less of vacation I will have to use. Will make sure that I walk my granddaughter to bus stop tomorrow morning and give her big kisses and hugs. She wants to make sure I bring her Peppa Pig something from London.
These new knees better be prepared for all the walking I plan on doing!!

Coming home from work there's one less dog than when I left, today was a bad day to not take the time to say goodbye as I was running late. I hit the "heart" button for sending "love, NOT "like" ... so, so sorry xx I worked late last night in order to ease my workload today, rushing through London Bridge with visions of home and horizontal on a sofa and saw a guy edging along the walkway looking very unsteady, then sinking to the floor. It's only 6.15 or something, full on rush hour carrying on around him. Went over to check with my "smell" sense on alert in case it was the result of a heavy lunch hour in the pub .. Gosh, this guy was so unwell, I thought "Stroke" at first, but was able to ascertain he knew what his problem was, complete exhaustion, tried to tell me the name of the problem but, well, he was Russian, he was barely able to speak, and there were just so many people. I grabbed a young PCSO (6 coppers practically opposite attending to a single bloke who'd done something in complete oblivion to this poor feller on the floor); PCSO went off to get a chair, came back empty handed, LT staff had told him to go to the overground staff ... Anyway, the overground staff were helpful and finally found my Russian a wheelchair and took him off to their first aid room for some peace and quiet. He kept saying to me, put me on a train (to Bromley!), my wife is at the station .. mate, if you can't stand up and walk 10 steps unaided they won't let you on a train! He absolutely didn't want an ambulance, but I'm sure the station staff would have got one. Felt so very sorry for him, looked up what I thought he was trying to tell me his condition was when I finally made it to horizontal on the sofa, and I've figured it is M.E. ( myalgic encephalomyelitis. ) Only a youngish guy, probably not 40.

Well done helping, @londonmizfitz. M.E. people are perhaps unlikely to be in that condition. I wonder if it is M.S? Not MS - I would have recognised the words, he said it four times and I just couldn't get what he was saying (London Bridge in rush hour is so loud)! Utterly exhausted to the point he could barely speak, or lift his feet. I posted not for praise (honest) but hopefully to prompt others to look twice - he could have been legless through other substances, he could have thrown stuff at me (happened once, bloke lying in the middle of the road with crutches next to him, when I stopped my car to help he threw a crutch at me .. opposite the police station where they'd held him overnight, unbeknown to me). But it's always worth checking.
