^ I knew you wouldn't let me down, TM. I was genuinely going to change my post, but decided to let you have your fun. To get such a good price, the rest of me is in the guards van!

Just four weeks after I rang the fracture clinic to get an appointment to see the consultant to ask about having the pins and wire removed from my elbow (because they stick out and I keep knocking them and it hurts,) today I had my pre-op assessment. The nurse who was talking me through everything asked if I could manage next Tuesday for the operation. Wow, yes, I wasn't expecting it to be so soon but yes. "Okay, I'll just ring through to see what time you should come in," she said and rang through to the ward. Lots of chatter coming from the other end and then she says "right, hang on, I'll just ask, yes she is sitting down!" "What about tomorrow?" she says "They could do it tomorrow if you like." So, tomorrow, I shall be mostly lying in a hospital bed, having metalwork removed............. When the NHS works, it really works!

And thank you ... I want to keep my faith in the NHS alive and it's been severely challenged in the last couple of weeks. System rather than individuals, but seriously I could weep.

Today should be good. I'm off to Edinburgh to see some Fringe shows today.
I am very prepared for my LNER train to Edinburgh to be packed to the rafters.

System rather than individuals, but seriously I could weep. Well apart from the minor glitch of my name not being on the surgeon's list (the original patient whose cancelled slot I was lucky to have been offered was still listed) which was easily and swiftly changed, everything worked perfectly CG. Staff excellent also. Now home, and intending to milk the 'pain' and 'incapacity' to the limit... Also very grateful that even though it wasn't essential surgery, it will make a big difference to me. Now, if only they can sort out the (lack of) cataract surgery situation.........

Had a wonderful phone conversation with a customer at work the other day. Funny lady from Wales who owned three dogs that kept attacking her as she was trying to order things from a catalogue. We had such a laugh.
We are told at work that if a customer wants to ramble, we let them. Obviously at some point we have to tell them we have other customers to attend to, but as most of them are elderly, they may be lonely or may not have chatted to anybody for days, so we let them have a good natter.
Well, I spent HALF AN HOUR on the phone to her, and as pleasant and wonderful and uplifting as it was, I'd hate to see her face when she opens the phone bill.

I had a reading of a play I’ve written (being performed next year) and it went well. So well. We laughed a lot (in appropriate places, and inappropriate remarks)
Turns out I’m quite funny. And quite dark and twisty. But we knew the second bit.

@emicardiff That must be a big relief for you that it went well. I can only imagine how nerve-wracking it must be for a writer beforehand.

The theatreboard coach trip will leave from London at 11.00 prompt, returning from Cardiff when possible. Bookings to the usual email address, please. Cheers Monkey....the question being though, will you lot end up reported in the Bad Behaviour thread after though?!! If there's a bar and a hot actor some people just might....

Takes me nearly 5 hours to get to London from here, so if you could divert to Aberystwyth on your way to pick me up, it will make it so much easier for me. Ta everso.

haha oh lord help Cardiff theatre audiences.
I just (tried) to have a skype meeting, but just as I did some tree surgeons arrived across the road, and decided to commence chainsawing and chipping outside the window. I retreated to the only available room at the back of the house (my bedroom) and therefore conducted the (thankfully audio only) call lying on my bed.
Don't tell me I'm not professional. I vote for all work to be done from my bed from now on.
ETA: that last line sounds filthy. I stand by it.

It's going to take a whole lot of nudity and enough gin to bring down a proletariat to get me on a "coach" and head out to God knows where in the provinces. The provinces usually come to me.

I didn't realise you have family in the grim north, @ryan. The woman behind me in the supermarket was buying five bottles of regular gin, one bottle of premium gin and two boxes of gin truffles.
Just a flying visit is it?

Just a flying visit is it? Well I'd like to say that I do patronise the provinces every now and again however, anyone who thinks I'll travel to The North for regular gin is very much mistaken. The very thought of it. The only Gordons I'll ever try is a Gay one if I ever was to find myself stranded at a social event in Scotchland.

All booked and confirmed @neilvhughes. Seating we will sort out nearer the time. Probably will be a "lucky dip" as so many will want to sit next to @emicardiff . On the other hand, I may offer a reduction if anyone volunteers to sit next to BurlyBeaR . 😑

I can't wait...always wanted to meet him/her/it...no, seriously, I have...

Nobody feed the Bear! actually maybe do, it'll keep him quiet!
Speaking of travel, I should have been going to London for a reading of another play of mine. That's all cancelled/postponed/whatever and as much as I'm sad/disappointed, I also feel like death warmed up, so I'm glad I didn't have to sit on a coach/be social.
So instead I've walked the dog, and I'll be (re) writing the play, and baking something.

So I got a new job on Thursday, which is very exciting, they seem nice but my current job. Oh jesus. I cannot resign until my bonus has been paid because • Employees must not have resigned their position and be working their contractual notice period at the time bonus payments are made
I am a ball of pent up rage. I am lying to colleagues/customers about everything and the only person I can confide in is my colleague who is resigning the same day. I feel like I might explode and just want to go home and eat my homemade bakewell tart
